These?

What I'm asking is... would anyone be interested in doing a lot of spriting for this game? When I say a lot I mean a basic
Portal-esque laboratory map which would look minimalistic and stylish and also a tropical beach tileset with lots of bright
colours and an orangey tinge which would compliment sunset backdrops. I'd also need some charsets doing which wouldn't
consist of an awful lot. Just some animated enemies standing still, attacking, being hurt and dying along with a few character
sprites.

There will be the oversized palm trees, some more standard trees and then an assortment of various beach items.  Umbrellas, coconuts, little plastic buckets and shovels, what-have-you.

Please give me a couple days at least.  I have a couple major tests coming up...

Thanks a lot MissingName. Actually, buckets and spades won't be too necessary since it's more of
a classified top-secret island. I need all the spriters, composers and artists I can get!

Not complete or 8-bit yet.

Without the buckets and umbrellas, it looks rather unimaginative.  I think I'll make a crab charaset.

What sort of building materials do you want?  Stone, brick, reeds...?  I'm guessing there's going to be some sort of buildings on the island.

The water is the RTP standard, painstakingly recolored with reference colors from an actual photo of clear blue waters.

This day is one big step for mankind! The battle system went through millions of boring, repetitive test logs, but the outcome is...

IT FULLY WORKS! It 100% works, it's 100% ironed and flattened out bug-wise. I haven't been this proud of myself since god knows when.

It has the potential to be so incredibly complex and offers a stupid amount of customization! Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway... :p

Those palm trees are looking nice! Did you completely sprite them yourself? I'd mainly like shrubbery
and wild plants to fill in gaps. Sand and grass is a must. The plants don't have to be real ones. Use your imagination
if you can. I'm going for a jungle like Jade Cocoon 2 if possible and hopefully the beach will have the same feel to it.

I'd rather it looked atmospheric than happy and lively if you know what I mean. Anyway, great job up to now!

So I was working on my AUTOCAD and got bored.  So I opened up paint and...
High-Res palm trees.

I take a reference picture, lift colors off of it and then draw the object.  I use Irfanview for tinting, darkening, gamma, all sorts of effects...

Let me integrate all of my things together.  Shells, seaweed, coconuts, assorted plants, jungle (do you want a path leading into the jungle?) and maybe some building stuff.  White/grey brick sound good?
I'll post it as soon as it's all together, and you can make suggestions from there.

That looks great! The best way to describe the overworld is a huge jungle island populated
with plants that have never been seen before. The outskirts of the island are sand and sea, AKA
beach and there are extremely modern-looking building jotted around almost like stations which you
visit for missions. There's gonna be other areas later on, but that's the basic idea of the map.

Could you make the brickwork large and modern if possible? Anyway, keep it up! Thanks a lot!

It's usable... 8-bit.  But it's not done.  Needs more pants (so it won't be just messy dirt and dark, but pretty things there to be happy), a wrecked building set and a continuous jungle.  And that orange tint.

I'm at a loss as to how to make the continuous jungle at the moment and I need to sleep in order to get more reference for the plants.  Bizarre stuff happens in my dreams...

Just a rough picture of what can be done so far...

Still no clue how to do a continuous jungle.  Suggestions?

Continuous forests are one of the hardest things to draw ever. The best way I have seen it done is to have a few tree trunk sprites that eventually fade up into a textured solid green haze that forms the constrains of the area you can walk through. That's kind of a lousy description, I know. Maybe I can find a screenshot somewhere...

In any event, while the game is cool, I am most impressed by your spriting work. Haven't seen a lot of chipset spriters lately and Lord knows my own works leave something to be desired.

Thank you.

A few complementary items to go along with the chipsets.  Two sliding doors going opposite ways( regular and tinted versions of both) and a fail crab.
