...are you serious.

Yes, you didn't know LGBT set a day aside to protest the movie for that reason. http://www.dallasvoice.com/instant-tea/2009/12/16/lgbt-site-marks-friday-as-the-international-day-of-protest-against-avatar/

LBGT is going to end up like PETA.

"Buy tickets in bulk but do not attend showings."
That's just defeating the purpose of "I hate you".
They do make their money from the ticket sales after all.

Though I find it kind of funny and incredibly stupid how the movie is creating controversy because there are no openly gay blue people.

It may be my belief that killing is bad... but in this case... it'd be a service to the world. PURGE PETA AND LBGT FROM EXISTENCE! HELL YEAH! Or legally title them as what they really are: Terrorists.

LBGT imo are becoming like PETA by actually doing something as stupid as protesting Avatar because its a movie where blue aliens aren't gay (because there is no point to it when they could be doing something actually important) is just like Perez Hilton scolding that girl running for Miss America for saying gay people shouldn't get married because it wasn't the anwser he wanted to his question.
Just so no one thinks i'm being biased I am for gay rights but its things like this that just blow my mind at the hypocrisy and idiocy and the buying tickets in bulk order when I read that I kept wondering how is giving the movie money and not seeing really making a statment. I guess they just buy as many tickets so no one can see the movie but still it is just...stupid.

The way they want to protest is just plain stupid. But the reason is even worse.
I doubt people will take them seriously if they complain for such idiocy.

But remember, HSS can strike anyone, anywhere, anytime.

And it's just avatar. That doesn't quite make sense to me. Why not protest every other new release for not having openly LGBT characters while you're at it? I mean, if they're going to do that.

Buying all the tickest so nobody else will watch is like shooting yourself in the foot in the hopes that your reflex twitch will punch this guy you don't really like in the face.

Oh, yeah? Well, where were they on WATCHMEN, then, hu-oh, wait, that had a lesbian character that was sort of dead during the entirety of the movie...

...

... But Dr. Manhattan was blue. AND HE WASN'T GAY. They should've protested that to the ground.

He was the only blue guy, that's why. Maybe if there was another blue guy like him, they would have protested.

Probally because it become one of the most hyped movies in a while especially during now while tv is having more and more gay couples and trasngender people.
Though Cerebus said it best "This can only be another form of Human Stupidity Syndrome."
People will always complain about something I remember back when the Golden Compass came out local news was talking about a protest outside the movie theater by local Churches.
I also remember when me and my ex went to go see it and got stopped and told not to watch the movie because it was blasphemy.
People will always complain about something especially anything that will bring the media.

That makes sense though, especially because...um...
[spoiler]
Near the end of the book series God dies.
Like...seriously.
God dies.
He's portrayed as this really old and frail guy who can't do anything who...if I remember right, kind of breaks.
Or vanishes, one of the two.
And there's two gay angels if I remember right.
Oh, and it kinda sorta promotes overthrowing the church.

Great book though.

Then they're retarded.
Daemons are the embodiment of the spirit, or as I like to believe, the consciousness.
