Chrono Alter
« on: January 01, 2010, 11:23:58 PM »
Hello! Lance7 (or Lance7586 if you go by my youtube) here! First, I want to say I'm a long time reader and a first time poster. Now, on with business...

Back in 2007, I made a RPG Maker game some of you may have known as "Chrono Chronicles". Somehow, that project got posted on Chrono Compendium without me knowing until I found it on google. To be honest, I was flattered. For the longest time, I had discussed remakes of this project with many other people. I tossed around some ideas, but nothing really came into development until now. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the trailer and some screenshots of "Chrono Alter".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_9hVnP5xJw

One year after the defeat of Lavos, Crono and Marle are having a romantic evening together when they are attacked by a familiar foe. Both are defeated and Crono wakes up in a new world he doesn't recognize. Follow the adventure as Crono searches for Marle and discovers a new evil plot underneath it all...

Characters:
Crono - One year ago, Crono began his quest across time to stop the destruction of the world. For his age, he's seen many battles. He wields the Katana, and is engaged to Princess Nadia of the kingdom of Guardia.

More to come soon!

You can find the main page of the game here:

Thank you for looking at this version and I hope you'll find it rather enjoyable when it's released later this year.
Thanks for the support,

~Lance7

I'm a sucker for Chrono anything, especially Chrono anything that looks pretty sweet. I gotta try this sooner or later.

I'm kinda torn about this right now. Some looks good... some looks bad.

I tend to not like fan games, but if you had made one before with some good praise, maybe I'll give this the benefit of the doubt.

Hey! This looks quite good. I love Chrono Trigger, and I've always liked the idea of a fangame based on it.

The title seems a bit weird though. Were you going for the verb 'alter' or the noun 'altar'?

Chrono's overworld map sprite in the trailer looks weird, too. Are you making it from scratch and haven't shaded it?

You seem to have replicated the engine pretty nicely in 2k3 (although I don't know much about the program, it looks good)

The mapping definitely needs some work, it just doesn't have that magic to it. I also notice a few of the enemies aren't animated yet, will this be amended?

Also, may I ask what music you're going to use for this?

(apologies if I seemed harsh there :-\ ) Rest assured I will be keeping an eye on this and playing it when a demo is released.

1. Alter is a noun for an event that will change all of time.

2. It's a temp sprite. I need to have someone make a charset with his actual overworld sprite.

3. The mapping I felt was good. D: Regardless, once I finish the game, which should be soon, I'm going to go over every map and alter a few things.

4. The entire sound track consists of music from Chrono Trigger/Cross, remixes from those games, and two pieces from FFIX.

5. They didn't seem too harsh. =P j/k

I hope you enjoy the game when I release it and thanks for the support! :D

Alter isn't a noun.
In fact, I can't think of a word for what you're going for.

Edit: Strike that, if you're German and talking about an altar.

What would you call an event? I'm awful with memorizing these sorts of things, but I have a clear image of what it is. >_>

Yeah, alter isn't a noun ;) Could you elaborate on what you want?

Figured the overworld was a placeholder sprite. You could modify those from the original game. I'll look around the sprite sites I frequent and see if they've been ripped yet.

I'm awful at making charsets. Go to Spritersresource.com. They're all there.

The Chrono Alter is an event that effects every time period. It's what the events of the game are referred to as.

Oh, well saying that the "Chrono Alter" is the collective noun makes much more sense.
Still not very good grammar, as technically the "Chrono Alteration" would be the "proper" noun, but it sounds much less awesome.

Unfortunately, I can't think of a synonym right off the top of my head.

Actually, that's exactly where I went, it's usually my first point of reference.

Here's the overworld sheet:

I can't whip up a charset myself, I've never done it for RPG2k3. Maybe you can request it.

Chrono Alteration
I dissagree. This sounds more epic than alter.

Blame Avnas, he started it.

Although the whole "alter is a noun" thing kind of made me go "what?"
