It's because of the number of badges you have. The more you have, the more often it'll crash. It's how Nintendo is combating Piracy on this. By now, most cards have a fix for the crashing. Unless you have an M3, you should check for any updates and apply them.

Having an M3 myself, I am officially stuck on Soulsilver until they release the patch. Beating Whitney (female Geodude FTW) is the final straw, crashes occur after only three events after beating her. Shame too, because I can't even level with all the crashes.

Just in case you didn't get my MSN message- Try backing up your save and editing out some old badges using PPSEDS or Pokesav. Worked for me.

Well, M3 finally released their patch, I'll try it an hopefully it works.

EDIT: Apparently, I should read the release notes first. HG/SS still aren't supported by the new release. But playing it on the release, I do see a HUGE improvement. Crashing only occurs every hour or so now.

Since I got my fourth badge, no crashing at all. Apparently it's supposed to go down to 'one crash every three events' but maybe the copy protection fucked up or something.
