Is this a joke or what
Halo 1: 2001
Halo 2: 2004
Halo 3: 2007
Halo ODST: 2009
Halo Reach: 2010

And ODST was only really like, a mod of 3 which they released. And let's not mention Halo Wars. Ignoring ODST, it's been a brand new engine each time.

Just to compare:

Sonic 1: 1991
Sonic 2: 1992
Sonic CD: 1993
Sonic 3: 1994
Sonic and Knuckles: 1994
Sonic 4: Who the hell cares, It's probably going to do terrible anyway.

In short: There's no pattern or real recommendation about what or how you should space your sequels.

Halo 1 was only 2001?
Weird, I thought it was later.
...not sure WHEN, but...later.

Right. Just make it good, and people won't care.

Unless it's Left4Dead 2...

Fantastic news! Microsoft emailed me a code for the Halo Reach beta! That means I don't need the ODST disk to install/play it!

However, I do need a working Xbox.

Who knows? Perhaps Microsoft is fixing my console as we speak! I'm sure they've got nothing better to do!

The Halo Reach gameplay videos all look stupid, like they totally ripped off Call of Duty. Although all of my friends who have played it say it's good, I have yet to play it and I don't think I will like it. I'm not a big Call of Duty fan in the first place, but I love me some Halo 3. Also Halo 2, but they took the online multi-player down =(

Personally, I'm waiting for Metal Gear Solid: Rising. I love MGO but don't have a PS3 of my own. Rising will be released for 360 and I assume that with it's release will come MGO 3.0. Also, Raiden is a lot cooler than people think he is. Not as cool as Snake or Big Boss, but...

Having played it with a friend twice, I can say that it doesn't feel like Call of Duty. Like, at all. It's still very Halo, but it's different enough to warrant a purchase from fans of previous games. A lot of people have been calling it "Halo: Tribes" due to it having a few similarities to the legendary PC game series.

If you want an actual Metal Gear Solid game, you should be looking to Peace Walker. It's going to have the next MGO. And notice they removed the "Tactical Espionage Action" from Rising and replaced it with "Lightning Fast Action"? It might end up good, but it sure as hell won't be a real MGS game. It's also worth noting Peace Walker was originally called Metal Gear Solid 5: Peace Walker.

According to Wikipedia and other sources, Hideo Kojima has confirmed that MGS Rising will be a sneaking game. He has also said that Rising will be "the next level" of MGS games. I've seen videos for Peace Walker, and while it does look like a good game, I don't think it will be the next true defining game in the MGS series, although Kojima did say that both Rising and Peace Walker will be the true "MGS 5" games. Also, Peace Walker is for the PSP, which I don't think would be able to handle the kind of content that a game similar to MGS 4would have (including MGO 2.0), especially as a 3-rd person shooter and with the pixelated graphics on the PSP that it has. Here's a really cool Peace Walker video, you'll see what I mean. If my dreams come true, in MGS Rising, you can be all sneaking around, CQCing dudes or if you want, bust out your HF Blade and slice them up like near the end of Sons of Liberty.
