Best Story-driven game?
« on: September 17, 2010, 12:44:29 AM »
So alot of rpgmakers game are now to the point were people are like "No one wants to play this" because its mainly story-driven which honestly tends to bore people these days.

So I'm curious what "actual" story-driven game is your favorite or what you consider the best.

For me it's

Not sure if a topic like this was made before but I have never seen one.

Septerra Core. Game so so bad. Story so so good. I'll never play it again because it's that awful, but I'm glad I played it once.

So far, I'd have to say either Mass Effect (it's like if a Michael Bay movie actually had a decent plot), or Lost Odyssey (which is just plain good, were it not for the dated gameplay).

It's a toss up between Heavy Rain and Hotel Dusk, for me. Both are brilliant.

Heavy Rain is a great example of a pure story-driven game :)

Damn, I should've thought of that. The story is so much deeper than Wii Sports, is a great game. Gameplay almost doesn't matters when playing it. The characters really make care about them. I got so sad when T Block disappeared when the L block fell on top of it.

Don't. Just don't. One cry is enough.

If I had meant FFTA, Id have said it. The stories in those were not even that well thought out.

The fact that you even have to ask that takes you down a peg

New Super Mario Bros for DS.

That twist where the princess was in another castle totally caught me by surprise.

Zerlina, you really should have put a spoiler warning there :/ You'll ruin it for others.

Nintendo always do a fantastic job of making really deep characters in Mario games
that you can relate to. The storytelling is almost Dexter-like.

UNRELATED NOTE: Only 2 episodes of season 4 left to watch!!! It's SOOOOO GOOOOOODDD!!!!!
John Lithgow scares me.
