I usually let them know that I don't have any money, but if they want to talk to me they're free to go ahead. Don't really mind.
Jehovah Witnesses... They go knocking door to door and they usually want to talk to my mother, but I can't wait til I have my own place so I can talk to them. Why? Well, they spend all their day trying to convince people into joining them. It'd be fun to try it the other way around.

So...here they tell us there are starving children in Brazil...what do they tell you there?

We had two deaf Mormons tour our neighborhood and try to enlist us once.  That was interesting.

Mormons keep trying to snag my friend, because he actually converted to appease a Mormon girlfriend a few years ago. Stupid, I know. But apparently once you do that, they put your name and address on some sort of list and keep hounding you until you go to Mormon church.

I had a couple of Witnesses come to my door a couple of months ago.
I absolutely HATE disappointing people, which led to this ridiculous 5 minute long conversation which ended with me saying that I don't go to church and don't really believe in God.
At least they were the cooler Christians who can actually understand why some people do not believe.

Great strip, BTW.
Personally, I think that that joke is one of the best ones that you've done.

Wait, the Witnesses accepted the fact that you didn't believe? It's totally the other way around here...
They go all "Though hasth to beliefwet in thyne Godeth!" when you tell them something like that while the rest of us is "Oh well, your loss".

You guys probably won't get this one, but honest to god, it was the best I could come up with for a pretty purple-blue princess.

So at my school there's these people from Greenpeace and Save The Children who haunt certain areas on campus that get a lot of traffic. As soon as you're within earshot, they'll ask, "Would you like to devote a minute to helping the environment?" or "Would you like to devote a minute to Save The Children?" They're really trying to hit you up for donations, and it's super annoying.

Here I have a princess as one of these guys, played by a certain admin's female id. This poor chap doesn't realize he's stumbled into an RPG where he really has no choice -- the conversation keeps going in a loop whenever he says no. There's a TV Tropes/Dragon Quest reference of course. There, now I've ruined it. I hope you're happy.

Heh heh. Clever. I remember a few DQ/DW NPCs who'd do nothing but say the same darn line over and over like that till you choose the "yes" and usually it would only be to tell you some useless piece of info you already knew/game lore.

Thanks! ;D

Oh and...SCANDAL ON THE COMICS PAGE

I got an e-mail from the boss-lady:

Quote
We recently had a problem with a shout-out on the comics page. You guys who showed up to orientation know the deal: no shout-outs. However, this wasn't like a "hey, friend, what's up? you're awesome!" Rather, it was a comic that was seen as a public insult to someone that a lot of people know and recognize.

The comic in question portrayed the person in a not-too-positive light (though could have easily been thought of as a light-hearted joke), and, to the person who identified his/herself, it was seen as incredibly insulting. I have been contacted by a professor of the person in question, by Doug himself, and know that others who know the person have also contacted the Texan to issue complaints.

tl;dr: Someone slandered a professor in a comic, and they're in big twubble.

I'm pretty sure this is the comic in question, involving a moustachioed professor getting flustered over an attractive female student talking about "sexual tension."

Drama is always fun when it doesn't involve you.

HAH! You had a shout-out to me, but we work in subtle ways.

Also, your boss doesn't sound so bad. I like how she basically says she thinks it's okay but the guy is being a twat about it.

That's what I thought you were getting at too- or that a Save the Children worker read your comment and cried.

Also yeah the prof is being unfair since nothing really identifies him, but the moment of reference was probably really embarrassing for him. We all  have moments where we want to kick ourselves in the face cause we're so embarrassing- we're only comforted by the fact that we probably noticed what we did and no one else did... finding a less than stellar moment illustrated in a comic is a big way of having someone say "WE ALL NOTICED WHEN YOU WERE A DOUCHELORD."

The moustache could conceivably identify him. I mean, she said a bunch of people noticed who the artist was poking fun of.
