Sweet.

Speaking of Minecraft related shenanigans, I did something monumentally stupid yesterday.
I accidentally flooded an area with lava because I forgot to dig the pit that the lava will go into.
As such, I died and lost a bunch of iron.

Might I suggest making the blocks into columns? I mean, it seems a bit more reasonable in design terms, might be what was intended, and certainly makes more sense about why you can't move over them.

I'm not entirely sure about this. Weren't there similar blocks in A Link to the Past? Pretty sure there was. Yeah, you even had to push some around in order to advance in certain caves/dungeons/whatever. And actually, you even needed to push some in this very one game. I think the architects knew Link didn't learn to climb yet and wanted to mess with him a bit.

But anyway, I suppose it could still look good with columns in a 3D perspective. Or something.

Yeah, I thought about that, too, but I figured that pushing a column isn't that different from pushing a block that's just sitting in the middle of the room.

If I could get this on runecraft. I could make doors that required keys.
But sadly no...
Yes in this particular dungeon there's two pushable blocks.

If you are trying to accurately recreate the lvl 1 zelda dungeon, and not the level eight dungeon, replace those diamond block I am a bit jealous of with mossy cobblestone. Level one was dingy and full of moss  (Stone blocks and mossy cobbles). Level eight was Light grey and blue (Iron blocks and Diamonds.)

I have minecraft.  But I can't even run it properly.  That's how horrible my PC is.  I have to log onto someone else's computer.

Minecraft is a surprisingly CPU intensive game; it's not optimized well at all, and some computers can only really play it on very low viewdistance.

Anyways, I just want to chime in to say that I actually love that RM2K3 skin. It actually works extremely well. Reskin the armor and I'll be doubly impressed!

It takes somewhere in the realm of 2gb of RAM to play on "normal" distance.  One of my friends hosts a server on our dorm floor; that's 4gb when the map first starts out.

Minecraft is more CPU-intensive than Crysis 2. Seriously.

It's the worst optimised game in existence. It takes up way too many resources, and it doesn't even matter if you have a multi-core CPU - Java has support for multiple cores, but Notch has forced it to only run on one core for no reason at all.

Even more worryingly, he's said that the next update (statistics tracking and achievements, because we all know that's what Minecraft needed) affects "every aspect of the game world", which inevitably means that performance is going to take another big hit in the next update. Le sigh.

And there go my plans to try this game out. I was thinking of trying it out if it didn't lag too much, but if it's really as CPU-intensive as you guys say it is, there's no way in hell my outdated laptop can run it. :P

Retiring the deadlines because I think I've proven that I can get stuff done. It might come on my own time, but it will be better quality that way.

Weird, my PC ain't that good and I don't lag all that much, it all depends who runs the server.
