Most graduate when they're 22. 18 > graduate high school > 4-year degree > 22 and graduate college. I graduated considerably later. I changed my major a bit late in and not enough transfered for me to make good on time.

As long as you can afford it, don't be in a rush to get out of schooling. There's lots of long years to work no matter when you get your diploma, be it at 22 or 32.

Please don't let your age discourage you from graduating college. Graduating later than 21 or 22 is fairly common nowadays. I'll be 24 when I graduate; my brother also graduated at 24. I have classmates who are in their late 20's.

I know I shouldn't let it get me down, but it is a bit of a bummer when you go back school around the time your friends are almost done with it and starting their lives. But believe me, I will go back at some point.

I know the feeling, Dren. I have a feeling that I'm not going back next year, seeing that I'm in such a financial rut. It doesn't help that the governor of PA is a moron who decided to cut funding for higher education by over 50%, essentially meaning that all the universities in the state are looking towards tuition increases of around 30%. Seeing that I'm at Penn State and paying out-of-state tuition, which is thousands of dollars higher than in-state tuition, things aren't looking good for my schooling situation if I remain in PA. I'll probably look into taking online classes elsewhere or even transferring to another state entirely. It's total BS.

It always blows my mind how much universities rely on state funding. What exactly are they doing with the thousands and thousands of dollars we pay them?

I've often wondered how hard it would be to just move to another country with free college, become a resident, and take advantage of that. I imagine there's a lot of problems with that plan making it not possible, though.

Well, you probably need to pay the trip and for a place to stay. Then it would be good if you know the language. Also, your previous education better be considered as one the precondition to enter.
Then you're all good.

That's not nearly as bad as what I was thinking. I was imagining a waiting time until you were considered a citizen or something.

Yeah, well that's just what you need to become a citizen. Might take some time.
The rest is for your life and possibility to even go to college.

You could possibly do what all them hindu people are doing though. Can't remember what they call it though.

Just cuz I love the idea of being in another country. Learning another language would be a little tough, but I'm sure I could do it. I could save up plenty of money over a summer.

Idk, all just ideas.

Strangely enough, I've also considered that possibility. If whichever country I moved to happened to require me to be fluent in another language, I'm sure that I could do it. Foreign languages happen to be one of my greatest strengths. Even after 3-4 years of not speaking it, I still understand French fluently. Speaking it is a bit of a different story. It would probably be kind of broken, but understandable. While I'm well aware that the grass is always greener on the other side, so to speak, I'd really like to get out of the US. :|

A friend of mine wants someone to backpack Europe with them, and I'm very much considering it. But, it'll be much more than that. We'd be going with five grand a piece, or so, and would need to stay in cheap hostels or even find work on the side. I don't know. I need to look more into it. I've heard of a lot of people making similar trips. We'd be there for almost a year. It's basically sacrificing a lot of commodities in order to see and experience many different cultures.

The point is, if I did go, I'm not sure I'd want to come back to the US.

I just wanted to point out that I'm 21 and still haven't graduated from High School, which most people do at 17-18. But that isn't the biggest thing.
The thing is that I could have done it at 16. I had excellent grades and usually did not need to study at all. But then, a whole lot of nothingness happened, my motivation went downhill and here I am, now.

Now, I know looking back is never a good thing, but it's pretty hard not. After all, the present is all due to the past. So yeah, it's not only that I'm older and still haven't graduated, it's that I could have done it earlier and failed.

However, I do plan on returning, I'm just a bit unsure about when. I could try out now, I'd even be paid for it, but I have a feeling I wouldn't do much right now.

I really need some kind of pills that turn you into an optimistic person.
