Drak, you don't need to apologize for anything, or insinuate that we're not mature enough for such a dark topic or nonsense like that.

My problem with you stems from the fact that I believe you're an egotistical jackass who massively overestimates the quality of his own work, to the point that you stated that Charas would be lost/dead without the CGR thread to bring in one-post-wonders (with the exception of Missing, that is).
There's also the little bit of how bloody insane your none-work posts can be, especially the shining examples in this topic. Yes, schools are fairly stupid at time. However, the claims that you make (I honestly still can't believe that you seriously mentioned chemtrails of all things) aren't much better. They're poorly researched conspiracy theories that are easily refuted when you actually look at the underlying facts instead of seeing what you want to.

I do apologize for the needless flaming, that was extremely immature of me, but until you prove me wrong, my opinion of you probably won't change for the better.

ed:
I'm going to honestly leave the topic now, before I fully ruin what little reputation I have.

Archem, that's one heck of an award you have there.
I'd say I've earned it.

Now then, I'd like to see a return to civil posting. Fruck, I commend you for trying to apologize, but it totally wasn't cool to snap like that in the first place. Drak, say what you mean a bit more plainly, so as to avoid any misunderstandings. If you earnestly believe that the world is made of conspiracies and the government is only out to turn people into gold (or something), that's fine, but it falls into the same group of extreme ideologies that we've unanimously agreed are a problem. Voicing an opinion and preaching are two different things, and we don't need evangelists of any kind, religious or otherwise.

Now then, Chick tracts. Resumé.

Yeah, I admit that I really went off the deep end.
However, that won't fix things, because it still happened, and the point is it shouldn't've.

I'll be more sparse now.

It's extremely difficult to talk about this subject openly without arguments. Like you said, it's a best to not even get into it.  As far as being egotistical, that's a different view point.  Some might see an ambitious game designer who is spending his free time to give the public some entertainment and some might see me as the devil or an ***hole who gets off on being praised for my work. As far as saying charas will fall without the CGR's.  Nah, I didn't mean it that way. I meant to say that the CGR's have brought a good deal of new blood to the charas forums and it wasn't just me who said this. It was originally started by a couple of the originals.

I know if I took the CGR's away from Charas the sight would be fine with it's awesome people and database of resources.

I'm shocked that Vancouver acted so...stereotypical about a lost hockey game.
Seriously, for shame.

Archem. That award. You deserved it. Keep being awesome.
Compliments left and right. Razor did a bang-up job, and I wear it with pride, knowing that it's 1000% true (the only percent worth being).

Charas should have a gift shop, and they should make an Archem poster to hang on your wall. Best poster, twice.

Alright, here goes.  I feel like Charas has started to get a little too filled with easily arguable topics and posts.  I mean, we're a tight knit group.  We don't need anything to cause any more issues than we can handle.  Unfortunately, the Charas we know and love now, with all its off-topic-ness, is becoming what we tried to avoid when we closed the Off-Topic forum.  I remember the huge deal when that board was opened.  It was pretty great, but eventually it started filtering into the rest of the forum.  Once it was closed things went back to normal for a while, however, now it is getting there again.

I'm not saying that topics like this should be against the rules, but I do believe that they should be discouraged.  Also, we sometimes forget the basic rules of the forum.  I mean, I know I certainly did in that topic Brieg posted when I roasted him about that game he posted, and I regret it.  However, the moderators should point out when things are getting a little too overheated.  I'm not suggesting stricter rule enforcement, but rather a simple reminder every once in a while.  Archem was a good example of this when he edited Fruck's post and reminded him about Flaming.

All in all, we do have a great, small, passionate community.  I'm glad I am apart of it, but it brings a sort of sadness when I see it go like this.

-----------

But yes, it is indeed worthy of Archem status.  Oh, and Lucas, Canada and Hockey are like Pedobear and Children.  They just can't get enough, and when they don't win, you might as well have walked right into a room full of very hungryhorny bears.

Uh
gonna assume you mean the Unmod forum
that **** was pre. cool we should bring it back
</no>

And this thread like what I presume happens to all of the threads Lucas starts, has veered off topic to a level of permanency, I'd wager.

Yeah
Offtopic is where Unmod was held and well, it's right there. We're in it now.

Also: I don't know to feel regarding the thread title reading "Re: Holy f*ucking horses..." in the main forum

So yeah, fanatics are great. They are so convinced that they know the truth that the only right thing to do would be to make everyone else believe the same. They are doing everyone a favour. Or so they think.

And AFL, I'll gladly go policeofficer on the whole bunch of ya: if that's what you guys want. I can discourage you from making things go off topic and I'll bring the water hose to drench the overheat; 'cuz that's what a Mayor should do.

I'm a fan, in case it's not apparent.

I'm really not big on killing what I prefer to see as an evolution of the thread (pun totally relevant), so when the subject shifts, I feel happy. I mean, I tend to be the root of the derailment most of the time, and it feels like a personal accomplishment, but still. Typically, a lot of the fun that keeps us around stems from the  off-topic posting. Having said that, I don't have an issue with keeping things from melting down into controversy and petty bitching. So if things are going South really fast, I'm going to do my part to get back on subject and avoid any unnecessary unpleasantness. I don't see this as a black-and-white issue, so don't expect me to follow some sort of guidelines about this, just as I don't expect you all to live by a code of conduct. Just be yourselves (unless you're dicks at heart), use your best judgement about approaching a situation, and don't be a douche lord.

Man, would I be an awesome motivational speaker or what?
