I pirated this on Friday :p

I am SUPER impressed. The wilderness (in my opinion) is a lot better. Since the world of Skyrim is built into a mountain range, you can't walk in a straight line like you could in Oblivion, you actually need to navigate through the terrain. Fast travel is disabled for everywhere that you haven't been. So you can't fast travel to a town across the world until you've walked there, which again forces you to navigate through the beautiful landscape. The battle system is also brilliant, stamina is only drained for power attacks, and there are a lot more attacking animations. Plus when you kill some enemies, it uses wicked special animations. The level up system is also revamped, and you get to pick bonuses every time you level up, such as +20% damage for two handed weapons.

The people of Skyrim even seem a lot more realistic than characters from the other Elder Scrolls games.

I haven't even gotten to much of the story so far, but the bit I have played through was much more exciting than the other Elder Scrolls games.

Here's a spoiler for the first 5 - 10 minutes of the game as an example.
In Oblivion you have to escort with the king out of the dungeon. In Skyrim, you watched one person be beheaded, and you are next. Then BAM a dragon starts decimating the town you are in, and you have to try to escape with your life, but as you're running through buildings, the dragon is destroying them. It is EPIC!
Also, if any of you play it, kill a chicken in the first town, it's super funny!

You know, chickens used to be able to report crimes in the game's beta stage. Pretty funny bug, should have been a feature.

Well, mostly no loads. If you somehow break the game's load cell stream, you may be paused for a moment to let the game catch up. This usually happens on slow computers. There's also a brief load for entering/exiting areas like towns, houses, dungeons, etc.

But that would be fun as hell.

I don't know if its reporting a crime or not, but if you kill a chicken, EVERYONE in the town turns on you and tries to kill you. Even if you run away and wait a while, they still try to kill you when you get back. People in Skyrim really love their chickens!

They're protecting their property, man.
I can't blame 'em.

Likely it's considered destruction of property/murder. NPCs just see assault and death of other NPCs of either friendly, neutral, or hostile character. Chickens are likely tagged "friendly".

Everyone in town attacks you if you punch a random person, after all. Chickens seem to be no different.

I've gotten into my fair share of random bar brawls without everyone attacking me.

Literally billions of times better than Oblivion. Undecided as to whether it's better than Morrowind, but, sacrilege as it is, I'm leaning towards yes.

Today I came upon a bridge blocked by bandits. They wanted 100 gold to let me through. "FUS RO DAH", I replied. They flew off the bridge to their deaths. My erection has still not subsided.

Yeah, I'm siding with Drag on this one.
This is probably the best Elder Scrolls game yet.
Take the exploration and wonder of Morrowind, and the accessibility of Oblivion, and then add testosterone.
I still have some minor nitpicks, like fusing greaves and tops into one "armor", and the lack of spellcrafting, but overall it's an extremely good game.

I did the exact same thing today.

Also, firebolt + corpse = fun.

Yeah, the armor simplification continues to fluster me. I still want to wear robes over my plate mail, dammit!

I sincerely hope a DLC/Expansion is set in Solsthiem.
Kind of doubtful, but hey. I can dream.

So is the map bigger than Morrowinds? I'm guessing no, but it's so bloody huge. I love it.

I'm thinking of getting a "no compass" mod.

also I'm p. sure they've mentioned instead of doing big DLC things they're just going to do small ones. So no islands or nothing.

Yeah the map is bigger than Morrowind's. Oblivion's map was also bigger than Morrowind's, but since Oblivion had a very open map and no fog, it seemed smaller.

Holy ****! I'm a badass werewolf!
