I'm always way under-leveled. I'm basically able to stomp-march my way through all the scrubs, but then I hit the final boss, and it's far too late to start grinding 30 levels.

This applies to nearly every RPG, not just Pokémon.

I could never make a Let's Play, because I just grind until I'm stupid. I remember by the time I reached the final boss in
Disgaea, my weakest character could overkill the last boss about 10x his max HP in 1 hit.

Pretty sure you're doing something wrong then.

I would agree. But, if he does this every time he plays a game, he must find it fun or he wouldn't do it.

All this talk about Terraria is making me regret buying it in July and then never playing it.

I tend to grind too much in RPGs as well because I have a habit of never moving on until I can afford to buy all of the best equipment available, when it would really be best to ignore buying that shiny new armor so I could save my money for even shinier armor in the next area.

Ditto.

Edit: It just occurred to me that I forgot to mention Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Loved it. But, then again, I seem to be one of the few who actually enjoys Castlevania II.

What does Castlevania II have to do with SotN?

I entered CVII with the mentality of "oh everybody hates this, but it doesn't look too bad, oh wow I was right it's perfectly fine." I probably went into SoTN with the same mentality after reading a few complaints of the "metroidvania" style.

There are two grades of Castlevania fans. Those who like the linear sidescrollers, and those who like the Metroidvania style. I like the complexity offered by the latter. It has everything the former had, but you can save progress, have longer actual games, have depth in character leveling, and have paths other than "straight forward". I honestly don't get the fans of the former. I liked them when that's what they had to offer, but I'm a fan of the actual progress.

I'm having the leveling issue in FFIII now, I was doing really well and grinding but then after I beat this guy at the fire crystal...The damn Kraken at the water crystal is way more powerful.  And the monsters in that dungeon just make me cry everytime I face them.

To be fair, Disgaea has more end-game than in-game content, so the last boss is a big nobody.

I honestly don't think I can name every single game I've played this year.

I'll try though.

PS3
Little Big Planet (one and two): Excellent games with an excellent userbase. Platforming is a little wonky at times, due to floaty physics, but the sheer amount of stuff you can do is incredible.

Ratchet and Clank Future Trilogy (sans Quest for Booty): Ratchet and Clank is my favourite series on the PS2, hands down. These only further that love. A Crack in Time is actually one of the best games ever, in my opinion.

Ratchet and Clank All 4 One: Just started playing this in the past few weeks so I guess it still counts :V. Solo, absolutely terrible. The teammate AI is hands down the worst I've ever seen in a game. With friends/family? Really damn fun. Absolutely gorgeous graphics, as well, even if the art shift is kind of strange.

RAGE: durr it r fun.
Seriously, though, it's a very finely crafted, but very dumb shooter. Dumb meaning the storyline boils down to "shoot ****, move on". The AI is actually pretty great most of the time.
Also the graphics are glitchy as ****.

Skyrim: Skyrim skyrim skyrim skyrim skyrim skyrim skyrim.

360
Fallout New Vegas: Absolutely superior to Fallout 3, both gameplay wise, and atmosphere wise. Also one of the best examples of good DLC that I've ever seen...even if I haven't played over half of them.

Not much else, honestly.

PC
Terraria: Something like 118 hours into it, starting from September. Absolutely brilliant game with the personal best example of content patches that I can think of.

Minecraft: Pretty good game. Not as fun as Terraria, though, unless you mod the everloving **** out of it.

Bit.Trip Runner: oh god i love this game. Amazing soundtrack, trippy visuals, and best of all...it's fun.

Cave Story +: It's Cave Story with a less fun translation.

Super Meat Boy: Pretty damn awesome. The difficulty is charming as opposed to frustrating, which is a very damn good accomplishment.

Cogs: This game makes my brain melt. Saves sliding block puzzles, in my personal opinion.

Other games on HIB4: Haven't played extensively!

Spiral Knights: Damn fine MMO. Played this in Beta with Hobo and a friend of his. Pretty damn fun, and the latest content patches are pretty awesome, as well. Influx of noobs decidedly less so.
Haven't played it that much lately, however. Kind of go in fugues with it.

Welp, today I found that, despite being free, it's way, WAY too late to consider playing Team Fortress 2. Unless you have a fetish for dying every 20 seconds while trying to figure out the minor details of the game.

I didn't lose nothin' cuz, ya know, free, but I am a bit disappointed.

I found TF2 really easy to pick up. Maybe just go medic and stalk around a heavy until you get into the flow of things?

That's just you mate, when I picked it up for the PC I was in the top 3 of the match nearly every match, and I use the standard weapons. Skill > gear.
