Just got back from A&G
Turns out Nexus Gaming Alliance Bans Nightmare and Devil Jin. :/

Well that's stupid, they should ban Xiba and pyrrha omega.
Although I don't exactly get why you bann certain characters. Game developers must've done a bad job if that happens.

So that gamers can adapt the game to their needs, I guess. They remove what THEY consider unbalanced so they can claim they are the best at it.

The idea is to keep everyone from using the over-powered characters. This exists in almost anything competitive. A game wouldn't be much fun if everyone used Nightmare, would it?

Yes.... some guy kicked my *** as Xiba and I was Devil Jin, and Pyrrha overpowered, yea she is definitely Ban worthy.

But, in the super Smash Brawl tournament, Metaknight wasn't banned........

Actually, he was. Not at first, but he has been banned for quite a while now in official tournaments.

They're their own organization. NGA doesn't ban metaknight. :/

Well, a "real pro" wouldn't feel the need to use the overpowered characters, so it shouldn't be Nightmare VS. Nightmare all the time.
And I think that if you really want to consider yourself a pro, you should be able to handle everything, including "overpowered" characters.
But well... looks like that if you want to be a pro, you need to adapt the game to yourself, so...

no one used him, out of simple respect for pro circuit rules.
Also, nightmares isn't anywhere near as overpowered as people play him out, that our the CPU of nightmare just sucks. Legendary souls nightmare took me all of 5min. Siegfried took me half and hour, and Pyrra Omega took me 45minuets.
Nightmare is easy to fight, whereas Xiba is faster, has crazy range, has more light low options, and crazy frame traps but people seem to think he is balanced.

In the tournament I played, everyone used Cervantes, Maxi, or Ezio.

You give people too much credit. Any advantage will be abused when money gets involved, unless it's outlawed by tournament rules and regulations.

Oh, yeah, I kinda forgot that some times, money is involved.
Wish I was good enough to adapt the game to me and make money out of it...

Yeah when playing with your buds' you might not just use the strongest and bestest character in the entire world. But the moment we're talking about ratings, ladders or tournaments - people will use the tiniest bug to their advantage.

I just don't get it, contacted the PSN crew. They said that they didn't have any information about when dampierre would be released. SO stupid, he's been released for every other people except the EU PS3 users...

Edits.

So I finally beat the legendary souls mode. Took me 61 minutes to finally beat it.
"So purplest of mages, how could it take such a long time to defeat 7 characters?" Well, first I defeated kilik after some retries then I spent like 30minutes fighting nightmare till I managed to avoid his frigging stun and wall combos.
Next up was siegfried who wasn't that annoying got him on the second try. Then came skull cervantes with his crazy lounge combos, took some time to beat him.
Next up was edgemaster / alpha potrokolos and goddamn I hate his guts and that stage. He does some lounge thingy and then he manages to hit with it again before you can get up or guard, he prods me into the wall and spends that time being a douche. Lucily his range is somewhat limited and his low attacks rather predictable. Didn't take too long.
After the beard died it was time for Elysium again. Flash from the past of the story mode as she enters the battle as Omega pyrrha. She's so frigging fast, those frigging stabs. Breaking my balls. I almost won many times but she entered crazy bitch mode and either spammed me too death with stun combos or kicked me off stage. Luckily it didn't take as long as nightmare.

And then the final battle, Algol. So I was like "ffffffffffffff" not that douche again. But I managed to beat him on the first try. Guy doesn't have a good guard against grips it seems. And he isn't using that übermenchen mindreading foresight that some of the earlier cpu used to block with the smallest possible margin.
Woo! I got 200p to my player level. Which is the same as beating any arcade mode. Even on easy...

So yeah. Currently at lvl 60, love those silly weapons. Although I expected an umbrella for potrokolos alpha and not another copy weapon for the pyrrhas. So lame that pyrrha and pyrrha omega share all but two weapons. Although the fishbone for ivy was genious.

Still no dampierre. They released another old soul calibur song today on psn. But no dampierre.
Also, how do you just guard and guard impact? I just don't get it. And what does it mean when people flash white. Like cervantes did when he did all those lounges.

It took me 90mins.
Here's my story.
I beat kilik and nightmare on the second try each fight. Apparently Devil Jin counters nightmare. :3 So, siegfried took me 30min just to beat him. Cervantes has terrible combos if you block the first hit, he keeps trying to Ge Do Ray (conclusion) and it just leaves him open.
Cervantes was so pitiful and awful I felt embarrased for the AI, and the person who developed that AI. Any character with speed, (Jin, Maxi, Raphiel) will make quick work of Cervantes, it's pretty sad.
PROtrokolos took awhile, only like 5 tries. Now.... Pyrrah Omega.... well Elysuium, that took me 45mins alone, just her. I was so frustrated with life itself. It would always go 2-2, with her ringing me out for the final victory. ;;
Then, Algol look me all of 3-5tries, *yawn* Slow start up combos with terrible recovery, easy work for Devil Jin.

I suppose I should mention that I was playing Siegfried at the time. Great range and strength.

Cervantes was a pain because of his combos. Lounge into me, i rocket skyhigh, he then does his up spin and then a second time before I hit the ground. Also that low kick, slash, shot combo he does. Ans sometimes he just kept lounging back and forth across the stage. And then there was this one time he just kept killing me to the wall with something I couldn't break out off.

Speaking of devil jin. Are you using a tall or short devil jin`? Curious if it makes any difference with the whole range vs power formula they have going. Also, goddamn that uppercut. Met this guy online who kept using some fast guard impact uppercut. Quick and short, but **** it hits me into the air and he got in 3-4 more of those before I reached the ground again. Also it's so spammable and breaks your guard. But the speed is the worst part.
Also, am I the only one having trouble fighting the high AI Ivy and Astaroth with their godamn throw spam. Especially Ivy with her brave edge initiated throws that just busts your health.

Average Height. That's the advanced step uppercut, (quickest) He must have a quick *** hand, seriously. Go look the input for that move. It's spammable, but easy to parry if they keep trying to do it, you just have to guard the first hit.
I just don't spam that move, it's just as cheap as the ring out stun lock combo that hilde had in SC4. I just play Devil Jin like any other character, not spamming his game breaking moves. I use that uppercut to do a few cool looking juggles, but I don't use the guard break version.

I see, should give devil jin a closer look. I usually go with the height that is a little over average. Donno why, just seems right for most characters. Did some training with the two opposite heights and realised that the difference wasn't huge for the characters I was using. So I didn't change anything after that test. there was like 4-8dmg difference for a bunch of attacks, maybe makes a bit more diffrerence when stringed into a combo though.

So I just realised how to do guard impacts. At least I think so. ABK forward? Worked for one of my characters when I was zombieing through the arcade mode. Still trying to get those just guards working. I figure they're the same as power guards in brawl where the timing is everything.

Also, those later quick battles are tough, the AI can be such an ***hole sometime. Foresight and lame spamms. I actually had a nightmare breaking half my hap against a wall with the same combo over and over again, that pretty common punch thing. Stunned and into the wall. And he just kept going.

Yes, another character that seems to be getting overlooked is Aeon, who will probably become sleeper pro for sure.
