So, Diablo 3 got a release date at last!

Also, speaking of releases. Apparently nintendo is working on Pokemon black/white - version 2 for the DS.

Not excited for any of those. I mean... I did like Diablo II and am looking forward seeing what Diablo III looks like... but excited is very inaccurate.

I'm not really looking forward to Diablo 3. In between the online single player (complete with lag), the way it doesn't really feel like a Diablo game, the less than impressive beta which failed to get me hooked, the awful WoW inspired artstyle, I really don't know why I am waiting for money to transfer into my account so I can buy the collector's edition.

Not touching Pokemon pretty much ever again, I think. I totally failed to get exicted about Black at all.

I want to like Diablo 3, but everything I hear about it (especially the online single player, wtf) sounds like awful troll-the-consumer tactics. I thought those things were supposed to be getting better, not worse.

Online Single player is an absolutely terrible "feature" that should have everyone who concepted it put in a line and shot one after the other.

But I realised that in all the years of playing Diablo 1 and 2, I beat Diablo 1 once and Diablo 2 maybe once (certainly not the Expansion) by myself. Everything else was multiplayer.
This is all personal opinion and etc, but for me I don't see myself doing much single player.

Diablo III does sound pretty sweet buuuut I probably won't be able to run it until I get a new computer.
And I don't have a couple hundred to burn, so...yeah.

It's been awhile, glad everyone is still doing well!

I have been playing the Diablo 3 Beta quite extensively and I must say, Diablo 3 is fantastic. The art is amazing, the game play is fantastic, the rag doll physics is hilarious. The pure amount of pointless objects you can destroy is great. You will laugh when trying to kill something you destroy a bunch of objects around it while you attack. The Ability customization is genious.

Overall its a very promising game. The Beta is only the first part of Act 1 and there is 5 Acts. Gonna be sweeeeeeeeet.

To be honest it looks far more mature than WoW. And it's possibly the same graphics crew who made the stuff.

Also what does the online single player mean? Is it that I can play alone online or more that I need an internet connection for single player? Don't really get why any of those would wake the rage in anyone.

It means that you must be online to play even the single player mode. A form of DRM. Unpopular, too. I'm not a fan of the WoW-style art, and I've been saying so since the start. There was some big thing where a bunch of people were unhappy about that, but then we all got mocked to death by the rest of the game culture, so the style-shift stands. There's also something about difficulty-based armor styling, and the higher the levels, the more ridiculous the armor looks. It gets to be downright silly how much superfluous crap they tack on. I'm excited about playing it, but visually, it's becoming something of a turn-off.

Let me see if I can find 4chan's unveiling of the armour. The later variants look downright atrocious. A complete embarrassment to the first two games (though if you like Anime you'd probably love it)

And yes, not only do you need to be online to play single player, but you can also get lag if your net (or theirs!) isn't up to scratch. Lag. In a single player game.

Ah, so it's not like starcraft where the online thing mostly affects just the achievements and other achievement based stuff then.

And yeah I kinda prefered the bit more "rough" look of the previous games armours and such. Although some fancy pancy mage stuff isn't all that wrong.
