Is it possible to make an ARPG with RPG Maker 2003

I wanna make an ARPG with RPG Maker 2003; turn based isn't cutting the amount of action I'm trying to give this game. Is it possible to program the engine to be... actiony?

Yes it is.
People who know what they're doing in RPG Maker (not me) call that an ABS.
We probably have quite a few resources laying around on the subject, I'd peruse some of the archive forums.
