To get Mario DLC, go to the housekeeper feline in your house.  Then go to DLC and connect and choose "Gift" option.  It should still be there.

I have high rank monoblos armor.  I got my revenge on pink rathian after I managed to make it.  I'll start using other weapons once I hit G rank.  I also only have 1 armor set because it's pointless to make more when I'm jsut gonna sell them once I get a G rank set to start off with.

Also it took me 15 hunts to get a darned Shagara plate.  Drop rates are still ridiculous for the most part, but whatever.

Well, there you go I had no idea about the gift option. I entered the DLC menu earlier and it said that DLC would come in March.

I crafted the G jaggi set for now, just to improve the defense (like triple it), will look at some more interesting options as I get there.

Also this is pretty much how I feel about the new editions to the game so far

New monsters
Seltas - pretty interesting concept for a low level monster, it flies, it charges, it shoots some things. Hit it to the ground and punch it in the face.

nerscylla - great concept and execution, uses the new climbing features well and has a varied moveset that includes dragging in players, launching itself across the arena or just hanging upside down leaking poison on everything

Seltas Queen - I suspected that this would be a subspecies of the Seltas but it isn't. This monster will most likely summon Seltas during battle, much like a Great jaggi summons jaggis to tag team the player.

Kecha Wacha - Ugly... Something, it's kinda a mix between a muppet, a chimp and a squirrel. Uses the climbing thing well and an obvious rage mode where the breakables are logically more easy to break.

Tetsucabra - The huge frog who likes to pick up boulders. I kinda like this one alot, it's huge, it does some sidestepping, it charges a little, leaps, rock smash. Pretty good.

Zamitros - The shark covered in iceplates. It seems like a pretty straight forward battle until it inflates and turn the battle into something quite different.

Najarala - snake-ish monster using sound to fight. Lots of breakables in places a bit too hard to reach. Since it's a snake type monster it's full of new moves that aren't jus the wyvern rush attack and tail sweep.

Gore magala - large monster looking like an elder dragon. New status problem known as "virus", a super sayin mode much like zinogre and lots and lots of damage. Love the concept of the four legs and the wings that it unfolds during its' mode.

S Magala - Pretty much the above but much bigger and with some mandatory elder dragon flying phase. A good fight and lots of rolling around.

Dah'ren Mohran - pretty much the same battle as the Jhen mohran from monster hunter 3. You're on a boat(mother****er) and will spend most of the time using the balliste and the cannon to shoot at this baddy and then climb on top of it to slash away at the weakpoint. Unlike Jhen this one doesn't have a spine ridge seperating the right half from the left. Instead it got a front and back section. Also, you can't dance on it's head until the second half of the battle.

Returning monsters
Velocidrome / gendrome / Iodrome - haven't really aged well. They feel pretty boring compared to a great jaggi that's also pretty boring. But Great jaggi got some unique moves compared to its' scrub sidekicks unlike these guys who got two moves. 1 bite, 2 leap. Also, they are pretty small and hard to mount.

Yian kut kut - easy version rathian, like the game needed another one of those.

Blue Yian kut kut - why is this even its own monster?

Yian garuga - the missing link between yian kut kut and rathian. Now got even more rathian moves!

Gypsceros - I call it "Uglypeco" these days since it's pretty much a Quropeco without the "call on help" and the song mechanic. It's ugly, got a rubbery tail and plays dead.

Purple Gypceros - It's just a gypceros but purplish instead of bluish.

Congalala - a better boss version of normal enemies than the veloci/gen/io-dromes. Could still use some bigger size and less poopflinging.

Emerald congalala - the only positive thing about the subspecie is that it can inflict you with bomb/blastblight like a brachydios.

Khezu - I always prefered gigginox since it had some better looks and movements.Kezu is just... Ugly and slow, also the fact that the game lacks any battle music for this guy makes it immensely boring.

Basarios - I haven't missed these guys a bit. I'm just glad you can reduce their health alot by mounting them. Bye bye whetstones.

Gravios - same as above, huge guys, lots and lots of stony parts. Just glad that you can mount it to punch it in the face. So many parts to break and so little parts to actually damage without bouncing.

Tigrex - roars all the time and moves really fast. Donno if Nargacuga is worse or better than this guy.

Kirin - Bouncy bouncy elder dragon that looks like a unicorn. Pew pew thunder strikes and a really hard front. Not really the most exciting battle but at least somethign unique.

Daimyo Hermitaur - high rank only, one of the few old monsters I'm happy to see return. They got some guarding, some hydro pump and some tunneling. It's a varied battle and not a rathian.

Adding to that list:

Seregios - **** this guy a hundred times over. The new bleeding effect is just stupid, the fact that projectiles will hit you 3 times and burn away 80% of your health is even more stupid. And then it spends a lot of time in the air doing drive bys putting lagombi to shame.

All I hear about is this game but I never played the first Monster Hunter, couldn't at the time cause it was on the PSP or something, but I have to ask... Is it's action battle system as sophisticated as Oblvion/Skyrim? Or is it clunky and hard to adapt to? Also modifiable? And most importantly can one just jump into the storyline or is there some lore and stuff from previous games?

I'm not sure sophisticated is the word I'd use to describe elder scroll battles. As far as Monster Hunter battles they felt really clunky at the start but now that I've gotten into it I love it. Every weapon type got so much stuff to it and really changes how you play it.

Battle in monster hunter is all about learning the monster's moves pretty much. You have your attacks and a dodge button. While wielding a weapon you move a bit slower(depending on the weapon) and can't use the sprint button. Without a weapon you can sprint and use items. So you kinda have to decide what's best for the situation. There are several items to use, such as the usual potion and antidote. But also whetstones to restore the durability of your weapons, paintballs/flash bombs/sonic bombs etc that can be used situational in some battles or just place traps and bombs.

Some weapons are more straight forward and others. Weapons decide the battle style btw.
Sword and shield can combine different inputs for different combos and have a shield.
Longsword is for the Sephiroth katana-lovers sporting really long swords, also you have a meter that you build up to enter a "spirit mode" that lets you deal quite some damage. The moveset is... kinda limited? I can't really remember actually, been a while. I just know that you could do a backstep-slice attack.
Dual blades have changed between the games but are great for multiple hits on monsters, also a berserk mode that you can enter to do some improved moves.
Great sword is kinda limited when it comes to combos but got a sick charge up attack that's usually the goal for all the GS players.
Hammers are unique since they can cause stun damage to the head of monsters but are pretty much like the great sword otherwise.
Hunting horn is kinda interesting since it's sort of a support weapon. Your moves add 2-3 charges (can't remember) of different colours, if you preform a song with the different combinations you buff yourself and nearby buddies. Otherwise works as a blunt weapon like the hammer.
Lance is the defense weapon moving really slow with it drawn, also, dodging makes you do backsteps instead, but the shield is pretty much a wall so you can jab away at most monsters from a relatively safe position.
Gunlance is a combo weapon that's pretty much a lance with charges to deal extra damage. These charges are called shells and can be used with keypresses at the end of certain moves to add some explosive flair. Also a charge up attack with cooldown where you unload all your shells.
Switch axe is an axe that can turn into a sword for extra elemental or status damage when you have attacked enough with the axe. The axe is pretty slow while the sword is faster. The sword also got a charge up attack that will spend all your gathered energy.
Charge blade is a new weapon in MH4 that is also a combination weapon. This time it's pretty much a sword and shield and axe combo. Normal weapon is a simplified sword and shield where your attacks add energy that can be loaded into the weapon as charges (max 5), those charges can be used in axe mode to so the A button attacks that will deal elemental or status damage and spend 1 charge each. There's also a charge up attack that can be canceled to buff the player with an improved shield and axe damage for a time depending on how many charges you had when you activated it. In this mode the charge up attack will create a shockwave as well.
Insect Glaive is another new weapon that's pretty much a mix of the hunting horn and the dual blades in a sense. The most useful thing about the weapon is that you can do a jumping attack whenever you want. Also, by attacking the large mosnters with your insect you'll gather 3 different charges of colour that buffs the player. Gather the red one and your attacks will be improved pretty much like the dual blades berserk mode.
Bow is a ranged weapon with unlimited ammo, but you can use arrow coating for extra effect that gets spent. The bow can also unleash a rain of arrow and some simple melee attacks.
The two bowguns are pretty much the same, you need to load them with ammo and you can aim using a crosshair or just fire from the hips. The big thing about the bowgun is that there are so many different types of ammos that can be used for so many different things. Elemental shots, status effects, healing, paintballs, tranqs ect. The problem is that the ammo is used up and need to be purchased or crafted.

Also no, there's no story to get into. It's not really a rpg in that sense. The storyline is there but it's not really important or about saving the world. Each game starts pretty much like this: You are a hunter, a monster hunter and you start out with nothing and then takes on quests in different areas to do different things. You either kill some monsters, gather some materials, deliver some huge eggs while being hunted by dragons, fish while fending of huge bugs or go on hunts for the large monsters. As you do these things you will get crafting materials. Those materials can be used to craft weapons and armors and other useful items. While doing the different quests there is some sort of story going on that's leading you from gathering 2 blue mushrooms up to that 44km dragon serpent battle that awaits as the final quest.

Updated my monster reviews

It seems like a pretty straightforward battle until it inflates and turn the battle into something quite different.

Najarala - snake-ish monster using sound to fight. Lots of breakables in places a bit too hard to reach. Since it's a snake type monster it's full of new moves that aren't just the wyvern rush attack and tail sweep.

Gore magala - large monster looking like an elder dragon. New status problem known as "virus/frenzy", a super sayin mode much like zinogre and lots and lots of damage. Love the concept of the four legs and the wings that it unfolds during its' mode.

Shagaru Magala - Pretty much the above but much bigger and with some mandatory elder dragon flying phase.

Unlike Jhen this one doesn't have a spinal ridge seperating the right half from the left. Instead it got a front and back section. Also, you can't dance on it's head until the second half of the battle.

Seregios - The most annoying monster so far. It closes in with flying kicks and attacks with kick combos. Most of them are multiple hits making guards break. Also, new status called bleeding that deals damage as you move. Only way to get rid of it is to crouch for 7 seconds or eat a well done steak (apparently). Super annoying.

Brute Tigrex - Pretty much the same as the normal tigrex only that it can unleash a shockwave like roar. Actually find it easier since it doesn't run back and forth as often.

Molten Tigrex - Huge version of the brute tigrex with blastblight element. Not sure why its called "molten" though. Does pretty much nothing when not enraged but wreaks explosive havoc once it reaches that point.

Oroshi Kirin - Much like the normal kirin only that it is icy instead of electric. It can summon ice spikes at will under the player and inflict you with iceblight making it kinda difficult to chase it. Donno if the normal could coat itself in a windbarrier, but this one did.

Gypsceros - I call it "Uglypeco" these days since it's pretty much a Quropeco without the "call on help" and the song mechanic. It's ugly, got a rubbery tail and plays dead.

Purple Gypceros - It's just a gypceros but purplish instead of bluish.

Red Kezu - some different weaknesses otherwise exactly the same as normal Kezu.

Black gravios - Same as Gravios except it got more fire lasers up its sleeves. Also larger and camoflauged in the volcano.

Tigrex - roars all the time and moves really fast. Donno if Nargacuga is worse or better than this guy.

Kirin - Bouncy bouncy elder dragon that looks like a unicorn. Pew pew thunder strikes and a really hard front. Not really the most exciting battle but at least something unique.

Daimyo Hermitaur - high rank only, one of the few old monsters I'm happy to see return. They got some guarding, some hydro pump and some tunneling. It's a varied battle and not a rathian.

Cephadrome - Sand plesioth that digs under ground like, well everything else that digs under ground, nibblesnarf or whatnot. Got all the annoying traits of plesioth but with digging abilities.

Monoblos - much like its diablos counterpart but with a heave attack. Otherwise pretty simmilar. So not a real warm welcome back to that gal.

Akantor - Okay so akantor is basically a really big and slow tusked tigrex that can fire shockwaves and dig underground. Makes me wonder why they even made the molten tigrex.

Rajang - Super fast object flinging thunder monkey-minotaur hybrid. Moves really fast and got a super sayjin mode much like a zinogre. Almost gives more a of a challenge than some of the elder dragons

Kushala Daora - You lost all respect for this elder dragon thanks to the story finishing event in the village. It's basically just an air flinging elder dragon that likes to create tornados. Despite being made of steel or something you can still slap it around without bouncing.

Teostra - Elder dragon with fire affinity, his rage mode now flairs of blastblight as well. Lots and lots of fire and explosions. Heck, I think I took fire damage just by being close to it. Made for a more interesting battle than Fatalis.

Fatalis - After fighting Dire miralis so many times in 3U and Alatreon this guy is pretty easy. Got some wings and a flight phase but is otherwise just a really small Dire Miralis in a sense. Or Dire Miralis is a really big Fatalis.

Ahhh so not as fluid as Fable but more realistic than the Elder Scrolls. Hmm sounds like combat, as Red said, takes a bit to get used to since even KH's silly menu system was able to respond in real time without "sheathing" a weapon. Can you do sniper hits?

XD Devon O'Slym would call blasphemy on this one I feel, but it sounds useful.

Strangely reminds me of combination between Pokemon and Terraria/Minecraft hearing that. Hmm if my slow internet don't need to register the code it sounds like a fun time waster I may want to put down Oblivion for. After all I messed up my awesome theif. Ooh! Can I steal stuff? I love stealth and rogue-like tactics to earn extra G in any game. ^-^ In fact I'll play Oblivion literally not to level up or do quests but to see if I can pick pocket folks or make off with full jerkins and chain mail sets without somebody saying "Oy you! Where'd you get that, thief?" Heck I even kinda like getting chased when I have character with high speed XD So fun to dodge arrows and leap through the forest. X3

So the first batch of free DLC arrived today. Lots of stuff.

Also this does a pretty good job at explaining the game fish.

But no, there's no stealing.

Been a month and I've spent more than 200 hours on this already. A second batch of free DLC quests arrived as well, some cool armour pieces and some weapons but mostly Palico gear.

Also, Gogmazor is a pretty epic battle.
