Monster hunter 4 ultimate
« on: January 20, 2015, 08:18:55 AM »
So the next 3ds game is almost upon us. Seems like capcom decided to drop playstation for realz now. I've cancelled my WoW subscription to end in February and unpacked my monster hunter decorations (1 lego lagiacrus, but still, is pretty much as excessive as my christmas decorations ).
Played the japanese version of 4 on my buddies 3ds and it was sweet. Well, except that I wasn't sure what I was doing. Luckily there are icons for pretty much everything. But collect quests were kinda hard to pull of.
The online coop is a smart move, although I kinda doubt that communication will work unless you are both seated at your computer with a headset with some sort of teamspeak or skype running. Yeah sure you can defeat the monsters without communication but it kinda makes things more smooth.

I might just get a new 3ds xl for this, perhaps it's a waste of money. Also, if you're gonna buy one. I heard they don't come with the charger.

I never could get into Monster Hunter. Every time I try to play, I always find myself bored out of my skull. I guess it's just not for me.

I've had it for months. (Monster Hunter 4g, it's the same thing.)

I've sunk about 50 hours into it, only because my friend is dragging me along. I'll play with anyone who gets it, but to be honest it just isn't that fun for me.

I personally felt the same when I started playing. It was like a hack and slash with limited attacks and no ability to jump or chain comboes. Also, you could only carry one weapon at a time. It felt a bit wonky to begin with but then I got into it and started enjoying the fights with the big monsters more.
First great jaggi fight in 3 was the **** for me at the time. And then on the next mission I happened upon a Rathian that kicked my ***. The challenge was always there, some clear progression from what I can defeat to what I want to defeat. Also, I'm like the world's biggest hoarder so the fact that you could upgrade weapons along different paths with monster parts was a motivation on its' own.

So yeah I easily put down over 100 hours in both 3 and 3 ultimate already so its' gonna be nice to fight some new monsters in new areas with this one. There is always something to do in the game whether you want to earn an achievement for killing huge monsters or tons of a type of monster. Or if you wanna complete that cool looking armour set, or that useful armour set. Maybe you just stumbled across a different upgrade path for your weapon and need a new one so you can try both of those paths and see where they lead? Hunt down new charms in hopes of gettin one with the skills you need?

'cuz that's kinda my problem with Warlords of Draenor at the moment. I'm lvl 100, I've done highmaul, I've upgraded most buildings to lvl 3 and have my followers at lvl 100 with 620-ish item level. There are no dailies besides the apexis crystal one that might lead to an invasion that's only worth doing once a week. I spend most of my time in the game running through old dungeons and raids, and old dailies from Burning Crusade. And that's after like 2 months of playing it.

I'm getting the Monster Hunter 4 3ds!!!  It actually looks better on the game, smoother gameplay and better textures.

First time I played monster hunter was tri.  I was gathering and **** and i got bored as hell.  Then my brother told me to keep playing because I stopped due to that boredom.  AND THEN IT GOT FREAKING AWESOME!!!  I remember the first time Rathian showed up on a random quest and i was like OH ****!!  The first time a Deviljho appeared was far worse tho...

Did you guys miss the part where I said I was about 50 hours in? I've already fought the final boss for cripes sake.

I have a full time job, a girlfriend, and a social life. I love videogames, but Monster Hunter's progression is just too slow for me, I don't want to spend 10 hours grinding for a weapon that honestly doesn't make much difference to begin with.

No I didn't miss it I just explained my own experience with the game.

And yes I get the reasoning. But as I said, I'm a hoarder so those 10 hours are justified in my mind. I also work a full time job, live with my girlfriend - might not have the most active social life but this still seems more attractive than spending more time in wow to be honest. I guess that's kind of the thing for me. I'm kinda bored of WoW

Uh, I've apparently been selected for an Early Access demo code of this game, plus an additional one to share with friends. Guess I should try it if I can clear enough space on my SD card.

I didn't really enjoy the one I played on PSP, though, so if it's anything close, I'm not sure I'll like. Being unable to leave town except when taking missions, and then only send to some restricted area wasn't all that fun for me.

Mines coming tomorrow as well.  I probably won't be online that much for the first week or two just because I like doing single player on my lonesome.  The lone hunter Ragnell with his palicos Lee and I haven't decided the other cat's name yet.  Maybe George.

Okay so yeah the game is pretty cool and all. If you haven't gotten it yet no worry, the DLC quests won't appear until march anyway so no rush. I dig the new tutorial though, much better than the old boring one. Also, big bug monsters, I like that. 3 had a bit too many dinosaurs going on.
Still trying to learn the new weapons and the new areas. There's a lot more elevation going on in this game compared to 3.

Totally named them Lee and George.  I have Lee sporting the Mario costume and George still has Rare 1 crap lol.  No wonder he dies in High Rank a lot :D.  I'm using the Charge Blade for now.  I still don't like the Prey raptors.  They're kinda of boring cuz they're old designed monsters.

Also using the charge blade at the moment although the glaive staff is really appealing with its free earplugs and easy mounting. Haven't found any mario outfits but I got my felynes looking pretty sharp.
I'm just trying to find an armour set to roll with in high rank at the moment, I've gathered the rathalos set so many times that I'm kinda bored of it. I'm still running around with the velocidrome armour from low rank and that kinda hurts whenever I don't block or succesfully evade.
