Charas Nostalgia
Fisherson:
So I noticed Photobucket finally caught up to me not paying them to host my signiture...and apparently Bluhman's gift too is no longer being hosted on a paid site. =/ I mean I don't mind mine. I got it somewhere else, but Bluhman's...I don't know if I'll ever see that dude again and can't really ask him to reupload it and this is making me realize that thought makes me incredibly sad. Does anyone else ever have moments like that? where you see something from our blazing glory days when we did more chaos than game making and were like a family or is 'ol Fish just going soft?

Honestly, It's been quite a while since I joined now and this place has changed so much and the internet community as a whole has changed so much.
Back then Trolls were a big deal, now they are so common that people barely care. And yet they are allowed to influence so much and we still swallow the bait.
I miss the activity honestly, game engine software was hard to come by but the last 10 years or so have seen an increase in user friendly software that is more appropriate for 80% of all game ideas that were posted here back in 2005. Also with the rise of video tutorials people have the freedom to explore and work as they want. I love browsing the front page of Itch to see the projects people are working on and all the wonderful ideas that are put to life thanks to this freedom and accessibility.
Put a part of me misses this format - forums. Finding them, registering, starting threads, waiting for replies and hiding behind usernames. There are much easier and faster ways to reach out to people today.
But that was not what the topic was about, I miss all the projects being worked on, I've been on a few and the chaingames are just a few of them. I miss Pokémon Obsidian that me AFL and Ellie worked on, the many attempted charas games, helping people with programming and spriting, the kick of seeing someone posting a contest and working on that.
I've started many projects since I got the maker back in 2004. Most of them were doomed to fail already at the drawing board but I did finish some of them. I've made games for contests that I'm proud of, chapters for chain games and projects of my own. I had this plan that we should search our backups for an unfinished project and finish it to 2020 but I realize that life has caught up to most of us, including myself and it's hard to find the time to do it. It was a nice idea but maybe it's best to leave it at that while we have a chain game going on.

I'm not particularly nostalgic because I'm still here, I visit daily, and there's still activity from familiar faces. I miss Meis, Sai, Dragonium, ZKX, Razor, etc., but every once in a while, someone from the past will poke their heads in to say "hi", and all is well again, even if only for a moment.

I used to get a lot more nostalgic for old charas, but I've sort of settled into a reasonably happy place with it now. It'd be great to see some of the old members again but it's all good : )

lol, I was testing my DNS and visited Charas because I knew it wouldn't be cached since it had been so long, and saw this on the sidebar
