If you define race as ethnicity or religion, then yes, it is a race. But the general idea of race is all based on skin color. For example, African-American is more often considered a race then, say, German.@MM: Razor said Jewish, didn't he?[/B]

It's uncommon for me to make this sort of response, but have you ever actually seen/heard/read anything concerning race? Skin color has EVERYTHING to do with race. It's even where the word "racist" comes from. There may be disputes on what else race means, but that's without a doubt a big, if not the biggest, factor in it.[/B]

But if you go way back when, the only people to have that much pigment to make them black were people in africa. The only people to have brown skin were people in the americas. The only people to have white skin were europeans. Genetically speaking, if you're black, you're african. That's all there is to it.[/B]

If you are white, but have a recessive black gene, that STILL MEANS that you are part european. It doesn't matter what is recessive and what's dominant, if you are of a certain color, you are of a certain race. OBVIOUSLY this isn't taking into account albinos or those with pigmentation disorders.Recap: If you display a trait, you still bear it, meaning you are that trait that is dominant, and whatever the hell is recessive doesn't matter.[/B]

Corrected.I was arguing over the same thing - your opinion is that America is the best country because it's got freedom of speech, among several other reasons, I assume, and I was arguing that it is a horrible reason because a large number of countries have that same freedom and aren't, as you said, strictly headed regimes that disallow the use of it even if in principle they give it to the people.[/B]
o so very true, but you can be multiple races
Originally posted by coasterkrazyI was starting to think I was going crazy...Really though, ZKX articulated that well. Spike, you posted your pic in the picture thread, and you didn't really look black to me... more like what you said, caucasian, which is, as ZKX said, white. It was just a darker tone, like my friend from South America. So I guess from this examination, you're right on some level about skin color, because there can be variations within a certain race (for example, mediterranean olive still being considered white), but skin color is a general main component of race, regardless of what about said about "generalizations." Without generalizations, there wouldn't be any specifics. Caucasian is a specific.EDIT: Just saw your newest post. Explain what you mean.EDIT 2: No, wait, you're right in a sense. Like a person whose parents are different races. In that case, you have to pick one box when stating your race, as I've heard from someone who was spanish and black and was going to fill in both.
