Game Maker vs. Good Old Programming Language

So, I´ve been programming (C/C++, PASCAL, etc), for like 4 years now, and I´ve done my share of games, all small games, of corse...and other stuff.
My question is, when it cames to game programming, what´s better for a guy like my?, Game Maker or good old C/C++...
Of corse, the rational answer would be C/C++ I know that
but, what I wanna know is: am I going backwards by learning to programm in Game Maker?

I know alot in some of those programming languages, and let me tell you, any Game Makers make me stupider now. If you want to be a professional game maker, then don't use one of these programs, it's a step in the wrong direction.
