I remember a lot about KH and KH2. But I want to refresh myself on the actual underlying plot of both games. Here's the problem, even though I beat it and I thought I understood it at the time, I actually have no idea what the hell was going on there. I get the whole Roxas/Sora, the chain of events. But, well, for one thing- I don't know what Kingdom Hearts even is (A kingdom of hearts, but whaaa??) . And why was Ansem was going after it? What was the signifigance of Kairi coming from another world (and which world was it...was it important)? How come in the second one, Riku and Kairi both have keyblades? And mickey mouse too? Why does Kairi have a nobody? How did the worlds get unlocked after the first game? What exactly is "the darkness?" Apart from the metaphorical signifigance, what does Kingdom Hearts "being light" have to do with the universe? Why did this fact destroy Xehanort when he opened the door, but didn't destroy Riku, and didn't have an effect on him before he opened the door?
Yeah sorry, I don't mean to be a pest. I read through wikipedia I still didn't get it. I just can't believe I thought I udnerstood this game but actually don't udnerstand the rules of the universe for it.

"BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW"
Done.
-
Spot on, I'd say!
-
*facepalm* Retards.
Anyways, in part one when Kairi's heart was almost taken her nobody, Noami was born. Nobodies lack hearts, and in part two they were looking for hearts. Ansem is not looking for hearts, his evil assistant framed him. The darkness comes from the evil in our hearts; greed, vengeance, ect.
I think Kingdom hearts is in reference to us all having hearts and unity. I don't know about the other world thing... although she was a hidden princess so that might've been why? Mickey's always had a keyblade, the keyblade chooses. They were all picked.
Um I think Sora's dumbass unlocked the doors. Riku wasn't affected because he still had a good heart. He was just nosey. The being light thing is in a way saying light brings balance to the black sky or universe, whichever you wish to call.
I still need to beat both games x.x...
-
Yeah, I've played and finished both games, but now I realized I never stoped to think: "Why are the world still open in KH2?"
I kept on thinking that there was some secret ending in Kingdom Hearts one, that helps you visually connect both games, so I spent hours trying to find all secrets, and trinities, and the tournament stuff... Had no luck...
-
Will this turn into another KH bashing thread? Cuz I'm all for it lol...j\k. I won't.
I played 10 minutes of KH1, so I can't really help....good luck though.
-
I'm not really trying to bash it...I seriosuly don't understand the rules of the universe.

Ok thanks for clearing up where Namine came from, and why the worlds are unlocked. But ok, sorry I accidentally said Ansem instead of Xehanort. Why was XEHANORT going after kingdom hearts. Even if Kingdom Hearts represents the unity of hearts...what is the physical "Kingdom Hearts" of the KH universe? I see what it erpresents from a storytelling, allegorical perspective. But I really don't understand what it's physically supposed to be. And the light bringing balance to the black sky/universe...ok I get what it represents. But seriously what was it? I have af eeling a lot of this game was probably lost in translation...
I'm trying to guess here, but maybe- Xehanort wanted to open kingdom hearts so that the darkness would swallow and corrupt all the worlds (although I still don't see why this would benefit him), but when it turned out to be light, it fixed all the worlds? I still really don't understand what kingdom hearts is, besides being made of light...
I'm not trying to bash KH...I just actaully don't understand it.
-
bevuase he's a heartless, and he wants a heart of his own..to feel ...so to say Complete
I've beaten all 3 kingdom heart games, and I <3 em all!
-
What Felix said. The guy became obsessed with Ansem's research in hearts to the point where he forgot himself. I believe the goal was to make Nobodies like everyone else. Human in a way that they could feel something. They're not like the Heartless, they feel some things but they want love.
From what I gather reading Wikipedia... at the end of part one... the last door Ansem opens was the door to Kingdom Hearts. There is nothing but pure energy or hearts. Ansem was trying to brkng darkness into everyones hearts to make them heartless/nobodies. He was seeking Kingdom Hearts because it leads to all hearts and would get the job done faster. The other Nobodies wanted to be normal.
I do not believe KH has a physical structure. It was shown as light. KH is the purity/light in our hearts. It's like the last safe place from darkness basically. KH is the source of hearts.

That game was stupid. It had such a stupid story. Which is such a damn shame because I really like the concept of everything. I tried hard to like it but looking back at it it was just all around weak.
-
The game was good when you could overlook the disney cahracters. Just don't think of them as disney characters.
(Pirates world was the most unoriginal)
Roxas and Naminé was created during the KH1 events at hallow bastion. Kairi had her soul taken(kinda) so she became a part of Sora. When Sora goes all harakiri he releases his own soul and Kairi's from his body.
This makes Sora into a heartless, and well. A nobody was created at the same time.
And Kingdom hearts is... Light! Well, there was loads of heartless in there when they try to close the door, but I figured that it's just how it worked out since Xehanort messed thins up.
In KH2 though, kingdom hearts came closer to reality everytime a heartless was killed or something of the kind, or rather; when the keyblade "unlocked" the heartless' souls. The gba game had little to do with the actual kingdom hearts, it was more about the organization xiii and Riku.
Kingdom hearts is kinda like the crystal in FFIX I figured, I was a bit too young when I played that ending but now, I get it better.

My opinion exactly. I enjoyed the idea, I enjoyed the battle system, but I hated the fact that it just transplanted other characters for guaranteed revenue instead of making it original. Well, that and the bawwww.
-
...
I liked Kingdom Hearts 2. 1.. I actually watched someone play the first one, and when I went to play it (after beating 2) I discovered the set up up the controller I like died. I never made it far in that one...
Yeah, Kingdom hearts was like a power source for Xehanort towards the end. Like.. that entire battle was in Kingdom Hearts if I remember right.

The main thing I objected to in KH was the LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT and DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK with very little in between. Even the Nobodies and ORganization 13 were fairly RAH I'M EVIL, HOHOHO! save for maybe a couple, and even then, they were eh. But. . . that's not what the thread's about.
I'm having a lot of trouble putting the themes I saw in the story into words. But basically, it seems like Sora=good, darkness=bad. As for Kingdom Hearts itself, I thought Xemnas was trying to nab it in KH2 for hearts for the Nobodies, and that Ansem in KH was trying to corrupt it or something. I dunno. It was this big hearty thing in the sky that always seemed to be surrounded by cliche choral music and boss battles with silver haired fruit loops, usually accompanied by angelic and/or divine symbolism. Rather like the final dungeon of FF7, but without Knights of the Round to make it go faster.

Knights of the Round to make it go faster.
Knights of the Round, faster.
..............Huh.....you don't see that very often...

LOL!!! XD O.D. mean! I didn't bother reading it all because it made little sense but thank you, Djanki!

Control yourself good man! Plus, what concept? Final Fantasy + Little Mermaid? Ooooohhhh nonononono...
-
Its not about overlooking disney movies. Disney movies are awesome, and always well animated.
Its about the game being shitty. If it was all original and not final fantasy bullshit mixed with lack luster disney worlds, then okay, but it wasnt.
Oh and yeah the PURE LIGHT CAN ALWAYS DEFEAT EVIL **** was just so beyond lame. And **** sora he's such a whiny bitch. Please get off of Rikus cock and have sex with kairi already.
-
I'm goona have to OverDisagree with you:
I'm goona have to do this in parts:
Its about the game being shitty;
No....The gameplay/ skills/ Magic made the battlesystem work smoothly with the style of Disney and Square, And the Triangle Button system was fun during bosses.
And **** sora he's such a whiny bitch;
=\ I'm sorry he's not a hardA** like Dante or Nero/ or self exposed like sonic/ or Over confident like Tidus, Hero's can have any attitude, If they all acted overlytuff then games would get repetitive
Please get off of Rikus weenie and have sex with kairi already;
You watch Hentai recently ???
If it was all original and not final fantasy bullshit mixed with lack luster Disney worlds;
Thats what gave it such a huge appeal to a large range of people! And obviously it worked(or else there wouldn't have been a sequel, And I found it to be widely original With the main storyline characters,( You can't tell me Tron's stage wasn't fun)
Oh and yeah the PURE LIGHT CAN ALWAYS DEFEAT EVIL **** was just so beyond lame
Yea Thats 1 point to you...they7 could've lightened up on "The power of light" Stuff, but that doesn't belie the fact thats it's a good game
-
Who cares about how big its appeal is. I cant believe you'd say that ahahaha. Alot of stupid **** has alot of appeal to people. Appeal doesnt mean ****, because it can blind you. If you see a shitty game, you know its shitty. But if it has all your favorite characters in it, you're ALOT more forgiving of its shittyness.
And sora is a whiny bitch. Dont treat it like its some untouched territory, which is also kind of lulzy. Whinybitch personality has been done to death just like every other personality. its not about being tough at all or having a new and fresh overall character attitude, because you're never going to get that attitude. Its about having a character that can be sympathized with and likeable. A character that even when they bitch, you totally understand why. sora was not that character.
BATTLE SYSTEM WAS MEH. A BIG PILE OF MEH. press triangle 1000 times and hoooray you win the fight. I mean it was simplistic fun, but it could've been so much more. It got old after lvl 10. NOT TO MENTION HOW EASY IT IS.
-

It could've had different cast of characters overall it's a great story.(2 matter of opinion)
And sora is a whiny bitch, Dont treat it like its some untouched territory, which is also kind of lulzy
They had to make him opposite of Rikku...it just seems right
Its about having a character that can be sympathized with and like able;
Dude like alot of things in life...this is all a matter of opinion.
press triangle 1000 times and hoooray you win the fight.
-___- I mean a really big -____-. Did you even spend 20hours on the game! I mean come on, the combining character skills and glide/double jump was fun. And The Forms( I hope you know what I mean) Gave it more appeal to a battle system.
My turn!
Org. 13} I'm surprised you haven't mentioned them YET. There purpose in the storyline made it great, and gave (once more) a different feel than many story lines,
A character that even when they bitch
And sora's attitude wasn't bitchy, It was a bad tone of voice for some scenes, Accutaly in my opinion he was a little TOO happy and arrogant.
NOT TO MENTION HOW EASY IT IS.
Trey proud mode buddy...
(morale of the story)
No need to completely Nuke this game...And calling it a stupid story..ohoho, What type of games DO you play then, back to the saying
It overall did a good job/ and square made a good choice teaming up with Disney
-
*facepalm*
Like OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOD!!!! Guys, it's just a game. Take a breath and understand that it has it's faults just like any other game AND it's good points.
You're both right, Sora was whiney as hell yet overly happy. He was annoying most of the time. I enjoyed the fact that I was able to play with my favorite disney characters. And the story was good. I CAN'T WAIT FOR PART THREE!!!! OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOD!!!
-
...well, see, KotR seems faster cuz I can get up and go make me a sammich. Can't get up in KH2's final battle-- I might get hit by a building.
Also, KH brings out the best in people. Haven't you noticed? LOL.
-
KH pisses me off cause it really should've been an awesome game :(
The world to world concept, the heartless, the nobodies. I really liked the BASIC concepts with it.
BUT THEN THEY JUST WENT AND DUMPED ON EVERYTHING.
Rikku totally wasnt the opposite of Sora. He's just the Sasuke of the KHverse. I dont get why they would need an opposite of sora anyway. Doesnt make sense.
Battle system was a huge waste. ESPECIALLY IN THE SECOND GAME. Summons are useless. I used the forms and **** at first but then I realized how much of a waste it was outside of boss battles, so I proceeded to mash trinagle and box and kick all kinds of ***. ON PROUD MODE. I've beaten both games man. The BS was weak because despite having some MINIMAL ADD ONS TO IT, they never gave you ANY reason to use them.
Org 13 was cool. Thats another concept I liked. and the whole roxas/sora thing(even though sora was just unbearable. Roxas was pretty cool, which confuses me, cause he's pretty much sora) It would've been awesome to PLAY THROUGH THE whole org 13 storyline and actually get to FIGHT all 13 of them. BUT NO. They had that awesome trailer with blindfolded-riku dude, and you didnt even play that part in the game. Instead they threw it in some shitty GBA game. Why couldnt it just be part of the real game. AND NOW THEY'RE DOING IT AGAIN ON THE PSP AND DS WTF.
What difference does it make what kind of games I play. I like any kind of game. SOMETHING FUN AND COMPELLING. Either completely pointless awesomeness or compelling storyline with lackluster but excusable gameplay flaws. OR BOTH.
BTW WTF HOW COME PEOPLE CAN NEVER DISCUSS A GAME ON THE INTERNET WITHOUT SOMEONE GOING "GUYZZZZ CHILLLLL S'JUST A GAME"
I'm well aware its just a game. Just because Im speaking about it doesnt mean I go to bed thinking RRRFF I CANT BELIEVE PEOPLE LIKE THAT PIECE OF SHITHIHFSI
Its just a discussion, foo
Btw final battle in KH was sooooo eeeeaaaasssssyyyyyyyy
Srsly the only tough part was when you had to save sora as riku.
Also I like fighting the samurai nobodies. Duel Stance is awesome and should be a minigame.
-
Well, I kinda see KH as the beta of FFXIII, I mean. We who loves Hack n' slach will get an original game in a year or two. A game with final fantasy and hack and slash.
Gotta agree with Rev on the "Sora is whiney" I mean, in that last dungeon in KH 2 when he meets up with Kairi it's kinda like "Oh, hi there... Umm... Wassup?" And when he meets Riku he goes all "RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKKKU! I've missed you! Hug me dammit!"
Took away the good ending of KH.
Well, well. Anyway.
They added KH CoM(GBA) to the KH2 Final mix, with PS2 graphics and also allowed the player to fight all the 13 nobodies of Organization 13... twice! I'd love to play that, too bad they decided to only release it in japan once more.
-
Sora is whiny
Who in the seven hells would meet up with what he believed to be his soul mate, go "Yo", then proceed to freak the **** out on his friend, who doesn't even look like himself. Also worth mentioning is the fact that he's fifteen. What self respecting 15 year old would do that?
Also, there's a PS2 hack to translate Final Mix, it just voids the warranty on your system, cause you have to open it up
-
@fruckert: It's b/c Riku and Sora are fags for each other :P Seriously, anybody read VGCats?
Anyways . . .
That was a joke. I've played all two games (I don't count CoM; it was almost pointless) and enjoyed them. I agree that putting them in more original settings would've been nice, but knowing how the disney movies are supposed to play out in the end is kinda' reassuring.
As far as your questions go, Zerlina, the one I can answer best is the one about the worlds getting unlocked. Sora's pretty much retarded, but in his version of reality he was unlocking the "hearts" of the worlds in order to, well, do something. I can't remember. In the second, he finds out about Org. XIII, realizes he was a dumbshit, and goes back to lock them up, expelling whatever darkness and whatnot was in there, for the time being.
Really, the game is pretty much an acid trip with cliche' characters with a bit of fanboyism/the-kid-in-us syndrome thrown in.
-
This thread got so much funnier at this page when Rev started having to defend that KH is ****. Haha. I laughed.
-
LOL!!! XD Omg I hate you all sometimes <3!!!
-
Okay thanks guys...for trying to explain to me (more or less). ^___^
-
LOL!!! XD O.D. mean! I didn't bother reading it all because it made little sense but thank you, Djanki!
Anytime, bro.
I liked Kingdom Hearts; I haven't played the second one (I really do, though). It's the danged fangirls that ruin it all for me...
-
I feel like we've accomplised nothing (Thats charas. for you >_<)
You should (after you beat the game) play as roxxas the whole way Like you could play as rikku in KH for GBA!
-
Hmm...
Interesting concept...
