He's got a train. That's about it
I don't really understand what the whole story's gonna be about though :\

Heres my guess: PWINCESS IN TWUBBLE. SAV HER AND KILL DA EVIL BOSS

I actually love zelda games, but the above is almost always true.

Spirit Tracks train = Phantom Hourglass boat. I'm not a huge fan of Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, and part of that was the sailing involved; I would much prefer just having Epona and Hyrule Field.

I dunno, though. It looks like Link is some sort of courier, and that he's delivering an important letter to Zelda. Is this the same Link and Zelda as WW and PH? It could go either way at this point, but I'm thinking no - they've already used the Hero of Winds in two Zelda games already, and with the possible exception of the Oracle games, they generally use a specific Link for no more than two games.

Is this the same Link and Zelda as WW and PH?
I'm guessing not, due to the humongous amount of land, and the fact that Zelda appears to actually be Zelda and not what's-her-**** the pirate
They just appear to be of a scarily similar art style
I'm guessing they didn't want to go back to 2D

Here's hoping they let you use the ****ing d-pad. Sure, the stylus-only control scheme worked, but it just isn't as natural or comfortable as the buttons that we've all been using since we were young.

I thought that until I saw the familiar follow a drawn path that was drawn while Link was moving.

Unless they've found a way to make the two actions work simultaneously.

I think youre all being pessimistic. I think it will be rad. If anything, it just adds a touch of steampunk to the plot... the Zeldas all jump around in some sense time-wise...well, with a few exception...
I think its only natural that they eventually add something like a train to the mix. Its not even that big of a stretch, you drove around a steam powered boat in the last DS zelda title.
I say boo on you all and your baww-train. I think it will be win.
Phantom Hourglass was pretty win.

I'm pessimistic because I was hoping for steampunk Zelda so hard. Trains do not make steampunk.

I'm not pessimistic. Not at all. I f-ing love Zelda. But I still hope they drop the touch-only controls. I never thought it was a good idea, and I don't feel it caught on.

Fun fact: Zelda fans do NOT know what they want.
Shiggsy: We'll give you something new!
Fans: Windwaker sux graphics are gay we want OOT remade
Shiggsy: Okay then we'll virtually revisit OOT to an amazing extent.
Fans: Twilight Princess sux should be more like WW that was great
Shiggsy: HERE'S SOMETHING NEW
Fans: TRAINS SUX

Honestly, I'm just going to leave judgement until I actually get to play it. I does seem a little odd, but honestly, I think it's got some potential, personally. At least it won't be a lot of friggen water like before. I got so tired of sailing after WW and PH. (PH wasn't as bad, for sailing, IMO, tough.) I'm interested in seeing where this goes.

Eh?

Except for the run of the mill 14 year old "mature gamer" who says the graphics are too kiddy, a lot of (dare I say "most") people agree that WW was great.
There's a lot of praise for Ganondorf's character development in particular. I COVETED THOSE WINDS, I SUPPOSE.

Anyway give the train some space I'm sure it'll be a good mechanic everyone will love, even if it takes a game after to appreciate it.

I didn't like Wind Waker for a number of reasons.

Sailing was long, boring, and largely uneventful. Most of the things that happened at sea were just annoying, like getting attacked by squids or enemy ships. The weapons you had to fight back, like the bomb cannon, were clunky to use and consumed useful ammo so it was just generally easier to just flee, especially considering your enemies rarely dropped anything of value. Exploring various areas was annoying since you were always tied to needing the boat so you couldn't ever get too far away from it while exploring reefs or something.

There were considerably less major dungeons, and only one that I really liked (the light beam one with that flying bird chick.)

Controlling the winds with a little silver stick was pretty cheesy. Using a musical instrument to bend time and space was already pushing it, but now Link was just conducting some mystical orchistra. What? Plus having to change the wind direction every time I wanted to sail 4 feet was the worst thing ever.

The hookshot sucked. I LOVE THE HOOKSHOT and they made it obtainable so late in the game and pretty boring. Twlight Princess's (double) Clawshot mocks Wind Waker.

The last quest thing to find the pieces of the triforce felt strangely tacked on like an afterthought. I thought i was just doing a subquest when eventually it occurred to me that must have been part of the actual game. I felt I stumbled upon too much stuff by sheer blind luck.

And yes, I didn't like the graphic style. I much prefer Twilight Princess's realism. I don't understand the whole "bad graphics = better" mentality. There were essentially no sequences in the game where the cellshaded style wouldn't have been improved by a realistic style. The much-praised "added freedom of expression" was basically Link just going  :D or  :yell: or  every so often. And, once again, the same expressions could of been accomplished using realism (and were fairly well in TP).

Some of WW was okay. I enjoyed most of the minigames, and there were a few minorly interesting plot developments like Ganondorf becoming rather embittered with the endless cycle he found himeslf in. Yet it's not like he made any real attempt to break the cycle; he just did the same various evil stuff he normally did, and got a sword stuck through his head. He'd be back later. He always is.

Because a large percentage of people are idiots?

Really, that's the big dang answer right there! Because it's the most idiotic thing to do, it's done.

It shouldn't happen. It does anyways. Because somebody out there can't help themselves.

And it has the least bearing on Zelda. So it HAPPENS. The most FAIL things happen in posts that have the least bearing on the FAIL debate.

Also, he has a cannon to blow away the competition, why else do you think there is no other trains on the track? Duh, Link the tyrannical swine blew em all away!

Link: I can't wait to bomb some...

Conductor: Wait, what's tha-? *BOOM*

Whee!  Zelda with another useless plot device!  Honestly, I got sick of the game after Ocarina, and almost before then.  I hate it when people claim that Zelda revolutionized anything, too.  Zelda has not changed at all save for one single new, more often than not even stupider plot device.  I remember my friend saying that Twilight Princess' soundtrack was entirely orchestrated - apparently we've never seen that before (since around 1998, if I'm not mistaken.).

That people are still suckered in by the game when it's had almost literally no major change confounds me.   The same goes for nearly all of Nintendo's work, come to think of it!  Mario now has a sentient water cooler strapped to his ***.  Link is now a confirmed furry.  Samus can now abuse nature like steroids or some ****.  By the look of it, the only game they put any real thought in to as far as plot is concerned is Fire Emblem, and hardly even then, seeing as it's, more often than not an amalgamation of cliches. Hell, I'm proud to say that I'm not interested in this game.  I wear it like the badge of honor it should be.

As for the religious debates rearing their ugly head every so (all too, more appropriately) often, I chock that up to the fact that a few select members' posts have a strong tendency to go something like "I think that is stupid, but then again people still believe in a hippy who was his own son."  I haven't been around as much since I first started noticing this trend, so maybe it solved itself, but regardless: We get it, every one who believes there's a guiding hand to the universe is stupid for not agreeing with your views.

And with that, I run for my ****ing life because I pissed half the community off XD

Shh. You're not paying attention to the fact that we're speaking of Nintendo here.

**** Nintendo.  Nintendo sucks.  They were good for bringing video games back into the mainstream, which I'm sure would have been done at some point or another even without them.  Otherwise Nintendo is useless.

We need nintendo to educate our children and feed them below-average games to entertain them dammit.
I rather see some Japanese people do it rather than EA games or such.

Leave nintendo alone.

You've lost all credibility with this statement. Anyone who can claim Nintendo sucks is either a massive console fanboy for Sony or Microsoft, o a complete idiot who knows so little that they shouldn't be allowed to reproduce.

Which are you?

Pffft, like I had a whole lot before then XD

When I say that Nintendo sucks I mean modern Nintendo.  During the late 80's when they could actually put out a half-way decent idea instead of rehashing an old one they were at least half-way decent.  I do stand by that statement that Nintendo is useless, Though.

Yeah, I totally remember the SNES release for Warioware, And Mariogalaxy.
And the NES Balance board and Nunkchuck. What a bunch of losers, just doing the same thing over and over.
And the god damn Gameboy had a pressure sensitive screen too, they just didnt make a big deal about it.
And the New "Wii exclusive" Zelda title, supposedly coming out next year, is just a port of  Zelda2 for NES...
I mean, youtube that ****, find the trailer and youll see what I mean. It looks like every Zelda game ever

Dom, you used to be cool man.

Ninty's not original. He's right. They haven't made anything new in years.

Now if we're talkin' new and original, let's get it on with Gears of War 2, God of War III, Halo 3, Killzone 2, Ratchet and Clank #whatever, and Guitar Hero ∞! And I can't wait another day for Modern Warfare 2! Sweet Jesus, originality oozes from every pore of the world of gaming that Nintendo isn't a part of*!

*Guitar Hero ∞ isn't related to Nintendo?

I was referring to their games, not the consoles themselves, though I do see the room for confusion.

dont act like nintendo is the only console to milk a franchise title.
If youre going to blame anyone for redundant gaming, blame yourself for playing god damn sequel after sequel.

Twilight Princess I found a little weak. It was derivative to the point of being blatant. That isn't to say I didn't enjoy it immensely or anything. I am as much a zelda fan as you can find, they practically raised me, but I feel like they've been going downhill since OoT. They're still in the upper atmosphere, no doubt, I just hope they find another peak at some point.
Perhaps that's almost a greedy sentiment.

Spirit tracks actually intrigues me. I don't know why everyone hates trains. What's wrong with trains? When did trains become, like, sh*t? I like trains.

Honestly, I've hated trains for as long as I can remember. The idea of a little Link conductor (the other kind this time) is unappealing, and Thomas should get in a wreck stemming from derailment caused by a penny on the track (even though that doesn't work).

But then I remember "Oh wait! It's a Zelda game!", and all is forgiven.
