Title: Greetings, plebians
Post by: John Brown on September 20, 2009, 05:05:06 AM
WHO DARES TO LOOK INTO THE SOUL OF MAN?
Not I.
I am above those who do. I am the night, silent, waiting, all-consuming.
What man knoweth that I have not come? Or for that matter, what man knoweth that I am not already near?
The time is upon us. The clock has begun to tick.

Time waits for no man.

The streets of chicago were cold that night. A dark cold, that seeps into your bones. The windy city howls at our souls, uncovering who we are.
That night, I found out who I was.
With the gun in my hand and the bloody dress under my arm, knuckles wrapped in bandages, I knocked on the door. Tony's footsteps echoes in the hall. He slid the door latch to the side with a long, raspy scratch. The chord of an angel's tear. Tony was blissfully oblivious. Until I shot him in the forhead.
I left a rose on his pillow, for his wife to find. Not that she would, though. She didn't love him. Never did.
But she was the world to me.
My life.

I loved her until the day I killed her.

Listen, kid: The world is a scary place, okay? But sometimes, you just gotta tough it out. Like right now. I know you think you're invincible, but you're not. And someone's gotta teach you that. And it's me, see? What? You don't think so?

Well ****.

...Ok, I give. What are you selling?

You think I want your money? I don't need it.
Your mind is what's at stake here. Don't lose it, kid, it's all you've got. Well, that and your dog. But I tell ya, dogs won't keep you sane. Not in this world. Not in this time.
It's too late for that.
A man once said to me, "Kid, you've got your dick in a toaster." And he was right.
I learned something that day: Money isn't something you earn, make, or even get. It's something you've had all along.

I find your attempts at talking smart amusing.

Nothing changes. Why does it matter?
Get out of here while you can. You've got your whole life to look forward to. I, however, don't. Baseball cards don't make for a good investment, kid. Nothing like a warm cup of joe to put that mind at east. but only for a moment. Never again.

And you were never gone. No one leaves, no one enters. The world is round, and time goes by again and again. Don't get lost in the haze.
I find your attempts at talking smart amusing.
Listen boy, I don't give a rat's *** about smart. I got the know, okay? And I see what's going on here. The sick boy told me once: Will it hurt when I die? I didn't know what to tell him. It was only later that I broke down and cried. Outside the room, of course. He can't see me weak; it would kill him before the consummation did. I told him it would be okay, knowing it was a lie. Lies run this place. We live on them, we die from them. There's nothing we can't do without, or with. Don't kid yourself, you're not smart. No one is.

The fact that I keep imagining you with Johnny Depps character in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas makes this all the more better.
Thank you for bringing a smile to my face today.

That's good, kid. Smile. Keep life full of laughter. Live the fun life. I wish I could join you.

But I know I can't. Too many dead, too many stone cold dead bodies on the floor, gun in hand, blood dripping from bloody knuckle that was smashed into the wall in anger, maybe fear. I can't go back.

Listen: If I wanted to post here, I would have.
But that's okay. You do a good job around here. Nice work. Good to see that somebody up at the top cares for the little guy. I can't say I ever saw that.
When the sick boy asked me that Christmas if they even cared, if anyone cared... I didn't know what to tell him. Of course, I told him they did, but I never meant it. He smiled and went to bed.
I tell ya, it's a tough world. Get tougher, or get left behind.

I'm none of those. Believe me, kid, you ain't seen the likes of me before.
And believe me, I don't care who you think I am. No one should. Be free; express your self. Don't let anyone hold you back. Your mind is all you've got. Rise above the noise and confusion. Opinions fly left and right, but not you; fly straight and true. Old Johnny knows what he's talking about.
Sometimes I told this to the sick boy. I'm not sure he really understood. He was young, pure, untouched by lies, hatred, slander. He was the best of us. He didn't know it, but I did. He was himself; no one told him who he was.

Define yourself.

Heh. Me, a role model? I suppose the sick boy thought so. But then again, I kept my life apart from him. I never showed him the tears, the blood, the sweat that I lived in. The mire that bogged me down.
He never saw the bruised and battered body of my love, sobbing sweetly to herself, unaware I was watching from the doorframe.
He never saw Big Tony die. Not that he could have. He'd passed on by then. But that death... wasn't my fault.
So go ahead. Use me as a role model. I just hope you know what you're getting yourself into.

Nostalgia is a better drug than any Narcotic you can find. Keep on the sunny side, even when the skies are gray.

Well none of our genuine new members figure out all the profile settings and locate the most popular chat threads this quickly, and Drace's English isn't this good.

Might be Red.

I've used Simple Machines forums before, what about it? And by most popular chat threads, do you mean the ones that have been posted in this month?
I don't mean to sound negative here, but you're wrong.
This is awfully strange, you know. Not many people confuse me with other people.
Now listen up: I don't pretend to be other people. I'm me, God Damnit, and you can't tell me otherwise.

Now then:
Respect.
Respect ain't something you earn, or achieve, or make. It's something you have inside of you. Every single human on this stinking rock has respect for other people locked inside of them. The key to that lock is in your hand. The more respect you give, the less you have left. If everyone is special, then no one is.
Don't go assuming that everyone is the same. You'll wind up going in circles. Life doesn't move in circles. Life is a straight line, continuing ad infinatum. If you want to stay behind and chill, leave me out of it. I move on. Every second that passes is like a wave sloshing against a sand castle. No matter how big and bold that castle is, it's gonna come down eventually.

But we can still try to build the biggest castle. We can still strive, desire, achieve, hope, and wish. That is human nature. It is ourselves, our personality, our essence. It is what makes us great.
Don't lose your mind. In the end, it's all you've got.

If you idolize everyone, there is nothing left that is special about any of them. You become bland, transparent. Don't be that guy.
