I'm curious when people here say I love you you to your gf/bf/wife/whatever is it just words.
Lately i'm curious to as how I love you means anything to people isn't it only three words just like any other three words hmm?
What is the need for people to hear those three meaningless words?
-
That depends on how often you use them my boy.
If you like to throw them out everytime you get lunch or win a round of Tekken then it might not mean anything special.
But if those three words are only uttered during a few selected occasions a' year then they proabably mean a lot.
Anyone can buy a girl a necklace, but this one guy might have to work in a mine to afford it while another guy can buy her 10 and still have tons of money left.
The gift will mean a lot more from the guy who had to work his *** off to afford it.
A gift means nothing, it's the effort we like. Except for games. I rather have a bought game rather than homebrewed.
So yeah... Shower people with those three words and the meaning will be lost. Use if for those special moments - it will mean a lot.
-
Wow, this is as deep as Charas gets here, folks.
I take "I love you" seriously. I will not use it unless I mean it. In other words, I never use it.
Just kidding. Or am I?
My boyfriend cornered me into saying them about four months into our relationship. He said "I love you" straight out of the blue, which totally caught me off-guard. That pretty much forces you to say it back, or you're a jerk. Awkward.
-
So Prpl for special occasions what about when someoens say I love you during sex is that special or meaningless.
Valiere I don't know if you didn't say it back you wouldn't be a jerk he would probally have been depressed though.

When sex is the special occasion.

Generally speaking, the older people get, the more emotion and meaning they try to attach to the word love. Kids even up to high school toss it around like free candy, but at a certain point there are unwritten rules about when you should and should not say it, and those rules are defined by a different set of unwritten rules about how the relationship is going. It's kind of an emotional minefield.
-
I know I'll probably never get to say them with meaning, so I use it when someone does something totally awesome.
-
I just never use these words. Because they would have no meaning.
I'm just that... not great...
-
I only say it when I really mean it. There's different versions for me though I tell my really good friends that I love them cause they're my friends but I'd only say it to someone I was dating if I really really meant it. There's love and theres in love. Ya know?
-
I don't know. I use the phrase even for friends. I think when you say it to someone it means you trust them, and you care deeply about what happens to them. They don't necessarily have to be a boyfriend or girlfriend. That's not to say to use it a lot, but that it's okay to say it to those who really matter.
Hollywood and things have kind of made it seem like saying I Love You is the be-all and end all, and it's the most profound declaration of romantic love (and only romantic love) that you can have. To be honest, though, I think if someone is the be-all and end-all of romantic love, you shouldn't even have to say it.
-
Love is strong word word. It has lots of muscles.
In that sense, Jesus loves you guys.
-
Ah, love.
Something I probably won't be experiencing for a while. </sad>

This topic is getting kinda emo. :blue-eye:

Are you really surprised?
-
Nandez started it.
By that I mean no offense.
Just sayin'.
-
Haha nothing wrong with being emo. I'd say I'm pretty emo. XD
-
I'm not emo, just unloved by all.
/slit Achilles tendon
-
Hopefully this won't turn into a big debate about emos.
Doesn't the internet have enough of those, yes.
Anyway what would you say if someone who was dating a someone else slept with you said I still love you then 3 days later said I love you when they were back around there girlfriend/boyfriend but only as a friend.
Which part is real love and which part is fake.
Or is it all fake?
-
Wait.
Like, that girl has a boyfriend, but slept with someone else. She then said that someone else "I love you."
Then, she she was back to her boyfriend, she told him "I love you" as well. Is this right?
If yes, then this is exactly what happened with some of my friends. Except that girl had it with two guys. At the same time. Lots of bullshnitz followed. Her boyfriend still ignores everything. So for this, I say her "I love you" is complete bullschnitz as well. If she loved her boyfriend, she would never cheat on him. Or at least, she would've told the truth instead of adding lies over lies. Right? I mean, if you love someone, you should always be honest to him/her, right?
And if she really loved the other two, well, she wouldn't be with her boyfriend right now. Right?
I hope she burns in hell.
All in all, if it's really what happened, I say it was all fake.
-

That was a situation.
I'm adding in my own past relation expierences because I want to figure out if love is even actually real for people.
Now let's say the guy she slept with can choose too her boyfriend everything and even give him proof for it but decides not to so she can be happy even if its not with him, is that love or stupidity?
Ok back to I love you and sleeping with someone. What if they said it but didn't sleep with someone?
What if they wanted to tell someone but didn't want to hurt them? Or is that just a bullshit reason?
Also i'm interested i'm sure at least some of you are out of highschool if you had a boyfriend/girlfriend when you were say 16-18 how long did that last during or after highschool.
-
.... a big debate about emos.
Doesn't the internet have enough of those, yes.
Where's the emomometer to prove that?

I love you guys.
See, I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in sprinkle my love around the place.
On that note, I demand a red and pink sparkly border around the page be crowbarred in at once.
-
I love you are just words. They only have as much meaning as you put behind it. A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet! (I think that's a correct analogy.........)
-
I use the words to:
1: Express deep liking to a food or subject. I love pizza, it tastes good.
2: To express an emotionally meaningfulness to a person, this does not mean BF/GF, but closest friends, I call them bros since they are like family to me. This can also be used spiritually.
3: Though rarely, I use it in a humorously awkward manner to evoke a humorous or awkward response.
-
I use the words to get laid. :/

How... inspiring... :/

This topic like so many other got completely off topic.

Hey, don't josh it! I lovingly made that in MSPaint just for you.
-
Say the word and you'll be free
Say the word and be like me
Say the word I'm thinking of
Have you heard the word is love?
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, I'm free.

This topic like so many other got completely off topic.
Seriously, are you actually surprised?
It's a topic about whether or not you mean it when you say "I love you".
If you thought that this wouldn't get some sort of flack, frankly, you're retarded.
-
....It is said, but only USEFUL if action is given behind those words. If you can put a sense of action into the words, then they become meaningful.
Buh, some people say the words to express a feeling. It's however you take it.
-
The meaning of the saying is more important than the actual words.
But explaining what you feel about another person by saying "Beavers are awesome" in an affectionate way will probably be pretty hard.
So people use "I love you" it's kinda hard for the phrase to be misunderstood. And that some guys use it to get laid and some girls use it to get stuff - it's like anything else that exists in the society of today.
