I Love (You)
« on: March 03, 2010, 01:39:32 AM »
I'm curious when people here say I love you you to your gf/bf/wife/whatever is it just words.

Lately i'm curious to as how I love you means anything to people isn't it only three words just like any other three words hmm?
What is the need for people to hear those three meaningless words?

That depends on how often you use them my boy.

If you like to throw them out everytime you get lunch or win a round of Tekken then it might not mean anything special.

But if those three words are only uttered during a few selected occasions a' year then they proabably mean a lot.
Anyone can buy a girl a necklace, but this one guy might have to work in a mine to afford it while another guy can buy her 10 and still have tons of money left.
The gift will mean a lot more from the guy who had to work his *** off to afford it.

A gift means nothing, it's the effort we like. Except for games. I rather have a bought game rather than homebrewed.

So yeah... Shower people with those three words and the meaning will be lost. Use if for those special moments - it will mean a lot.

Wow, this is as deep as Charas gets here, folks.

I take "I love you" seriously. I will not use it unless I mean it. In other words, I never use it.

Just kidding. Or am I?

My boyfriend cornered me into saying them about four months into our relationship. He said "I love you" straight out of the blue, which totally caught me off-guard. That pretty much forces you to say it back, or you're a jerk. Awkward.

Generally speaking, the older people get, the more emotion and meaning they try to attach to the word love. Kids even up to high school toss it around like free candy, but at a certain point there are unwritten rules about when you should and should not say it, and those rules are defined by a different set of unwritten rules about how the relationship is going. It's kind of an emotional minefield.

I know I'll probably never get to say them with meaning, so I use it when someone does something totally awesome.

I just never use these words. Because they would have no meaning.

I only say it when I really mean it. There's different versions for me though I tell my really good friends that I love them cause they're my friends but I'd only say it to someone I was dating if I really really meant it. There's love and theres in love. Ya know?

I don't know. I use the phrase even for friends. I think when you say it to someone it means you trust them, and you care deeply  about what happens to them. They don't necessarily have to be a boyfriend or girlfriend. That's not to say to use it a lot, but that it's okay to say it to those who really matter.

Hollywood and things have kind of made it seem like saying I Love You is the be-all and end all, and it's the most profound declaration of romantic love (and only romantic love) that you can have. To be honest, though, I think if someone is the be-all and end-all of romantic love, you shouldn't even have to say it.
