Pros and Cons of RPGMaker
« on: June 07, 2005, 11:50:58 PM »
The title says it all, again. What do you like and dislike about RPGMaker? I like making maps events, char-battle-charsets, and making battle-animations. I dislike programming all those items and skills, it gets tedius, as does programming common events for things like day-night systems, or for a CBS-CMS, also because I usually press "cancel" instead of "ok". Once I actually had to make one char 5 times over because I kept pressing "cancel".

I love making maps. Creating dungeons is oen of my favorite parts of RM2k.

What I hate is making graphics. I can make a semi-decent characterset if I take my time, but nothing big like monster graphics or battlechars.  I also don't really like to keep altering the monsters' stats so they can be the right difficulty for the heroes when they are a certain level, it takes FOREVER sometimes.

Indeed making maps, events, and all that good stuff. I love making the grphics but it takes too long XP

Also beta testing and testing maps and stuff is cool :D

I enjoy making graphics, making CMS's, making maps, and that kind of stuff.

The only thing I don't like to do is figure out all of the stats, and balancing the heros, items, monsters, and bosses.  Makes my head hurt... :yell:

Like: Map making, making the story, and making all the characters.

Dislikes: the (sometimes) tedious coding

I love the coding. The rest is pretty boring.

The only thing I dislike about RPGMaker is map-making and chipsets. I love to draw (even though I'm no good at it), and I also like to code. The database stuff is somewhere in the middle - don't like it, don't hate it.

Coding is my worst.  Figuring out monster strength, item functions, weapons... i'm still having trouble with that...

I also have problems with map making, especially worldmaps.

I like it all, from the drawing to the coding. The one thing I dislike is how much time it eats up.

I like everything (especially coding actually) except the kind of events you have to copy hundreds of times (as I had to do with my equipment system, it took forever!).

Tomi is the one I agree with most, although my CMSs suck, but the maps were good :) Making the charsets is good, but I hate making sprite size B-chars, which is why we need a Sprite-Size B-char generator. But the maps and Char-making is my favorite.

I love making the database for some reason. I HATE making events; faceset, message, type, faceset, message, type, over and over.
