Where... to... start...
« on: February 06, 2009, 03:55:29 PM »
Gamemaker... there are so many versions. Is Gamemaker free? Which is the best one? Are there tutorials about?

I'm getting a bit sick of RPGs and I'd love to make some really original games as I've got millions of ideas. If somebody
could recommend a version and maybe where I can get some good help that would be great! Cheers!

I've only tried Gamemaker 7, and the learning curve wasn't that easy for me. You can use it for free, but it has some limitations which can be solved if you pay for it.

On a torrent site it's free. And I would get the latest you can get a hold of.

I don't see what people find so hard about GML. It's one of the easiest coding out there. You just need to know what everything does. If stuck, google what each function does.

You can't download illegal pro
It works off of Softwrap, so you'd have to do a **** load of hacking to actually get it working
So you'd have to buy it

BTW, if you need help with GML, just ask me...I'm fairly good
About 80-90% of Patchwork engine is done entirely by me
And I started coding about 3 months ago

Well, I did not do that
I don't break the law
EDIT: Well...except for with songs
But I fail to see how that really affects how much they get paid, so my conscience is intact
