Brand new and need help.

Hi. I'm brand new to the forum, and I could use some help. I'm using RM2K3. I'm just trying to learn how to even work the system. I've used XP and VX (free trials) in the past, and even started to learn some things (I've used them on old computers.) My problem is this. I'm using windows 7 64 bit.

I've placed my party starting position. When I click test play, I cannot use my arrow keys. I have to click new game, and the alt button is the only one that works. When I get into the game, my arrow keys don't work at all. I'm at a loss. They never worked, so I gave up on the system. Then, a few days ago, I opened it up, and was able to move my character. I got excited and was ready to work. The next play test, boom. Everything stopped working again, and the arrow keys were once again mocking me, as they were useless. Advice?
