Mixing Era's in Games

Never really liked mixing era's unless time travel had a big role in the game that or alternate dimensions or worlds.....

 Alot of Might and Magic games always had ancient weapons (guns from the future as well as the present), dinosaurs, androids guarding pyramids, none of it made since to me and it got annoying when the land you explored had castles and you had a party of knights archers thieves and mages

found alot of character sets of prehistoric dinosaurs and then found this panorama of an island in the sky with lots of vegetation and a huge tree in the middle ...well started thinking about whether or not i should add dinosaurs on that island

I'm pretty sure it's from SoM. so I think it's in the sky. But it could be used for something high up in the mountains.

As for the opinion. I think you've got to be careful how you mix things like that. It can be done well, but if you get a little crazy with it and start mixing loads of things from every time era, it'll be crap.

Sword of Mana. It's the mana sacntury or whatever. It's on a mountain, very high up in the sky. I know it's high up because you have to climb a tall *** tower called the Dime Tower to get to the gate of that forest.

My latest project definately has 'mixed eras', but it has a good reason for it; it's set in the future, but at the point where technology has been destroyed, and mankind has 'started again', now reaching a second medievel age of swords and bows, but with remnants of past technology being discovered and developed, like guns and teleporters.

Sword of Mana huh? Hmmmm did remind of  Legend of Mana, guess its the same tree....wonder what happened to it this time? Well I guess I need to keep searcnhing for a sky island then, dont think I'm gonna mix era's though maybe in another game........
