How to fix the font without using a patch
« on: May 29, 2005, 05:05:21 PM »
There've been complaints 'bout the rm2k3 font for ages and it's probably the most common bug. Ppl downloads patches and stuff but in fact the whole problem is caused by a simple installation error. Here's how to fix the font prob w/o ANY use of patches and crap.

1. Open your rm2k3 folder and go to "Fonts".
2. Copy the two True-type fonts in the folder.
3. Open the WINDOWS folder and go to "Fonts" (New folder but the same name. Now it's getting tricky! ;)).
4. Paste the fonts into the folder.
5. Now the font should look fine.

sephiroth, you missed a step into doing it (i have done it for myslef and others alot)Well you when your in the fonts directory, you have to drag the font that you want onto the desktop,(because you can't copy files from the fonts directory...) then copy it into the rpg maker fonts folder. when it is in there, rename it to the font names that were originaly in there... If you were having some troubles copying the font file into the rpg maker folder, that is why.

PS. Sorry sephiroth... just add this into the tutorial, then get a mod to delete this post.... just add a thanks into the tutorial for me.

You can copy/paste files from/to all folders! Plus you've misunderstood it all you're copying the files from the rm2k3 font folder and PASTING it into the windows font folder, not reverse!

And to enlighten Million $ Man's question I meant the folder containing the program itself not the install folder.

Question: I just checked in my Font folder to try and fix the font (MS Gothic works fine, but Mincho is screwed), and it says that both of them are .TTC files. I have no idea what .TTC is. Can anyone please interpret this?

o_O I made a topic about this months ago. Oh well, good job.
BTW: If you don't have Windows XP (maybe 2000 as well) this won't work.

My explanation is more thorough. :p Not trying to steal your topic Sephiroth Rocks, but if this is for newer members, the chances of them knowing how to get into their fonts is unlikely.
