20 Years?
« on: June 25, 2005, 08:45:24 AM »
I've been thinking about it over and over again. Nintendo are really cheating by making all of their old games available for the new console, and as a gimick, I'm bought. I'm just curious, what games would you download? Ignoring whatever price they would cost.

Some things I would probably wind up getting include but are not limited to:

Donkey Kong (NES)
Battletoads (NES)
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Super Mario All Stars
Super Mario Kart
Mario Kart 64
Mario Kart Double Dash
Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2 (Yoshi's Island)
Super Bomberman 2
Bomberman 64
Kirby's Ghost Trap (Kirby's Avalanche in the States)
Starfox 64
Starfox 64
Starfox 64
Super Mario 64

My list goes on.

The backwards compatability thing is just a cheap gimmick. You can already download and play any console game on your PC. I'm sure someone here has heard of an emulator/ROMs. I guess one redeeming quality would be downloading GC games considering they're harder to emulate.

But aside from that, games that I would replay in such a situation:
Zelda: Oot
Mario 64
Super Mario Kart

SMB 1, 2, 3, World, Yoshi's Island, 64. Zelda 1, Link's Adventure, LttP, OoT, and M'sM. And the first 3 Metroid games.

Barnsalot: The advantage of buying games with this service is that they're actually legal, compared to ROMs, which are not. But yes, I do realize it's a gimmick.

BTW: How are they gonna store the games? A hard drive? Memory cards? Some unique way that we could never think of?

Backwards compatibility was made for people who already bought the games for the previous system(s) and didn't want to have to switch systems just to play an old game. It's not reall a cheap gimmick.

Yeah, it's not really a gimmick. The XBOX and PS3 have there own fair share of gimmicky things. But lets see:

All Kirby
All Megaman X
StarFox
Mario
Donkey Kong Country
F-ZERO w00t!!!!!
F-ZERO X double w00t!!!!!!!

I believe that they're only offering their first-party games for download. But it would be cool if you could download any game on their systems... Ogre Battle: PoLC would be top priority.

Gee, I dunno if anyone has informed you yet, but it just so happens that emulations are illegal! :o
