If you're the kind of tightass who will not play what could be a perfectly good game because it has characters from a series already in it, then kudos to you. I'll be here playing a fun game while you stand on your soapbox preaching about how, because someone took the time to make up some stuff, that his game's fun factor will increase exponentially.

Really, just don't play the game and stop bitching.

Somone should make a new board for Fangames, that way people can go there to basicly talk to themsleves, serius game supporters will leave it alone, and a bunch of n00bs can talk about why mega man should stay blue or why flying a blimp don't belong in harvest moon.

By the time I see a decent FF fangame I made that on my own.
Maybe the ones who make fangames actually try to make it something good, but aren't able to bring it to word and mess up.
I don't know if this could be, but I think it's a possibility.

Yes, it does affect our game making ability, because alot of people who continue to make games are supported by fans.   It's the same as real companies.  If nobody liked or supported FF1, there would be no more FF's today.  If I didn't have support on my game, I would have stopped a long time ago.  People need praise for there work, updates and such need to be recognized so that people can continue on.  I honestly don't mind fan games, but recently they have been given way more attention than original games.  Someone who takes the time to write out a whole story, plot, characters, and twists from scratch should be noticed more than someone who just takes characters and ideas from something that has already been made.

real companies do not go 'lets give this idea and let's see if we get praised for it' No.. they have an idea decided to themselves if it might be good or not, then they get everything when is done.

So no; IT SHOULDN"T effect you wether you game get's support or not.

First one to say that; thx ;)

And though I know your saying that out of recintment, it will help me to finish the game; criticism is needed in life. Many people try not to get it, and when they do they end up being on a critical stage.

I don't really care if others like my game. Only a few people have shown unterest in my game, and I'm still making it. There have been games that people anticipated for a long time and it comes out and they like it, and then there are other games no one hears about and when its released it beats the highly anticipated games. If you stop making something because someone doesn't like it, you have some self-esteem issues you need to deal with.
