John Lennon-Imagine
« Reply #1 on: December 03, 2005, 04:57:55 AM »
Title:Imagine
Artist:John Lennon
Genre:Sub-Pop
My Interpretation: To me it's a song to ther other members of The
Beatles, it's like a song of how he wants to get
                              back with them.

IMAGINE

 Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Buried Alive By Love -HIM
« Reply #3 on: December 03, 2005, 05:15:01 AM »
-Song Title: Buried Alive By Love
-Artist: HIM
-Genre: Metal
-Your Interpretation of the Song's Meaning. Life is depressing.

Again the burden of losing rest
Upon my shoulders
And its weight seems unbearable
Your tomb is where your heart is,
I should've told her
But within me hid a secret so terrible

To cry is to know that you're alive
But my river of tears has run dry
I never wanted to fool you, no
But a cold heart is a dead heart

And it feels like I've been buried alive by love
If I should die before I wake
Pray no one my soul to take
And if I wake before I die,
Rescue me with your smile

The kiss of vanity blessed me with a spiritual murder
And fed the gods of war insatiable
Your home is where the dark is, I should've told her
And embraced the fire indestructible

To die is to know that you're alive
And my river of blood won't run dry
I never wanted to lose you, no
But a cold heart is a dead heart

And it feels like I've been buried alive by love
If I should die before I wake
Pray no one my soul to take
And if I wake before I die,
Rescue me with your smile

Oh, they say to cry is to know that you're alive
But my river of tears has run dry
I never wanted to fool you, no
But a cold heart is a dead heart
And a deserted soul is gone
A cold heart is a dead heart

And it feels like I've been buried alive by love
If I should die before I wake
Pray no one my soul to take
And if I wake before I die,
Rescue me with your smile

Title: the Murder Mystery
Artist: the Velvet Underground
genre: pre-noise rock
My interpretation: fucked if I know, just free association, but its still amazing.

candy screen wrappers of silkscreen fantastic, requiring
memories, both lovely and guiltfree, lurid and lovely with twilight
of ages, luscious and lovely and filthy with laughter, laconic
giggles, ennui fort the passions, in order to justify most spurious
desires, rectify moments, most serious and urgent, to hail upon
the face of most odious time, requiring replies most facile and
vacuous, with words nearly singed, with the heartbeat of
passions, spew forth with the grace of a tart going under, subject
of great concern, noble origin

denigrate obtuse and active verbs pronouns, skewer the
sieve of optical sewer, release the handle that holds all the
gates up, puncture the eyeballls, that seep all the muck up,
read all the books and he people worth reading and still
see the muck on the sky of the ceiling

please raise the flag rosy red carpet envy english used here is

mister moonlight succulent smooth and gorgeous. Isn't it
nice? We're number One and so forth. Isn't it sweet being
unique?

for screeching and yelling and various offenses, lower the queen
and bend her over the tub, against the state, the country, the
committe, hold her head under the water please for an hour, for
groveling and spewing and various offenses, puncture the bloat
with the wing of a sparrow, the inverse, the obverse, the
converse, the reverse, the sharpening wing of the edge of a
sparrow, for suitable reckonings too numerous to mention, as the
queen is fat she is devoured by rats there is one way to skin a cat

of a nation, rests hard on your bosoms, the king on his throne,

with the reek of the compost, as the livig try hard to retain

and all the king's men, swing the whole mess at the end of the
wire, scratch out his eyes with the tip of a razor, let the wire
extend from the tip of a rose, Caroline, Caroline, Caroline, Oh!
but retains the remnants of what once was a nose, pass me my
robe, fill my bath up with water

them happy with the inverse and obverse and making them
happy and making them happy with the coy and the stupid,
just another dumb lackey, who puts out one thing, while
singing the other, but the real thing's alone and it is no man's
brother

-Song Title: In Bloom
-Artist: Kurt Cobain/Nirvana
-Genre: Rock
-Your Interpretation of the Song's Meaning: Its about how the MAN is putting us down! lol

Sell the kids for food
Weather changes moods
Spring is here again
Reproductive glands
He's the one
Who likes all the pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he knows not what it means
And I say aahh

We can have some more
Nature is a whore
Bruises on the fruit
Tender age in bloom

Godzilla
Blue Oyster Cult
Rock
...Godzilla, duh.

With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
He pulls the spitting high tension wires down

Helpless people on a subway train
Scream bug-eyed as he looks in on them

He picks up a bus and he throws it back down
As he wades through the buildings toward the center of town

Oh no, they say he’s got to go
Go go godzilla, yeah
Oh no, there goes tokyo
Go go godzilla, yeah

Rinji news o moshiagemasu!
Rinji news o moshiagemasu!
Godzilla ga ginza hoomen e mukatte imasu!
Daishkyu hinan shite kudasai!
Daishkyu hinan shite kudasai!

Oh no, they say he’s got to go
Go go godzilla, yeah
Oh no, there goes tokyo
Go go godzilla, yeah

History shows again and again
How nature points up the folly of men

Title - The Freshmen
Artist - The Verve Pipe
Genre - Grunge I guess
Meaning - well it's about a girl who loved the singer, and got pregnant and killed herself. The reason I love the song is that it was the song that stopped me from trying to kill myself many years ago, because of the "For the life of me I cannot believe / We'd ever die for these sins / We were merely freshmen" line. So this song will always be my fave song... cause it essentially saved my life

When I was young and knew everything
And she a punk who rarely ever took advice
Now I'm guilt stricken
Sobbing with my head on the floor
Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice

I can't be held responsible
Cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

(Chorus)
For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

My best friend took a week's
Vacation to forget her
His girl took a week's worth of
Valium and slept
Now he's guilt stricken sobbing with his
Head on the floor
Thinks about her now and how he never really
Wept he says

I can't be held responsible
Cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

(Chorus)

We've tried to wash our hands of all of this
We never talk of our lack in relationships
And how we're guilt stricken sobbing with our
Heads on the floor
We fell through the ice when we tried not to slip
We'd say

I can't be held responsible
Cause she was touching her face
And I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

(Chorus)x2

Artist: Pink Floyd [1 of the greatest bands ever]

Song: Another Brick In The Wall Part 1,2 and 3

Genre: Classic Rock

Meaning:
[Part 1] - A son only has pictures of his father to remember him because he was sent out into the war
[Part 2] - Society won't let kids expand their own minds and are controlled to think the way they want us to
[Part 3] - The person doesn't need anything to help him, he realizes that drugs wont work and that what happens happens.

[All Together] - Basically No matter where we are or what we do theres always a "Wall" surrounding us and those problems are the "Bricks" we have to go through to get to the other side.

[Part 1]
Daddy's flown across the ocean
Leaving just a memory
A snap shot in the family album
Daddy what else did you leave for me
Daddy what d'ya leave behind for me
All in all it was all just a brick in the wall
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall

[Part 2]
We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

"Wrong, Do it again!"
"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you
have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"
"You! Yes, you behind the bikesheds, stand still laddy!"

[Part 3]
I don't need no arms around me
I don't need no drugs to calm me
I have seen the writing on the wall
Don't think I need anything at all
No don't think I'll need anything at all
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall
All in all you were just bricks in the wall

2nd I hate it when people say this song is about drugs and thats the only way you can look at it. Because in reality a song means what ever the person listening to it makes it mean.

yes that may be the original meaning but its not the only meaning, this is why i hate how our planets way of thinking and how humans have to make things one set minded.

exactly. like hurt by Nine inch nails.

"I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing thats real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
but I remember everything
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feeling dissapears
You are someone else
I am still right here
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a wayI hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing thats real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
but I remember everything
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know

You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way"

While it is a song about drug use, it also gives a more general view of the need for good in dark times.
