There was a 5??

Dynasty warriors is a pretty nice game to rent, but I would never own it again (I bought the 3rd for xbox... sold it later).

This game would have been perfect back in the arcade days. A little behind the times now.

Dynasty Warriors is a great game if you know the real story behind it. I've played them all and beat them all. There will be a sixth but probably on the PS3 with better graphics and all that.

With 12 Final Fantasy, 10 Romance of the Three Kingdoms and tons of Mario Bros, when is enough enough...

The only complaint I have with dynasty warriors is that they're ALL THE SAME. Fun game, but they dont do anything new with it. THey slap a higher number on it and "Xtreme legends" and call it a new game. Hell, they dont even have new maps.

The game is based on history so the names are the same, that's just obvious. The maps usually don't change from a Dynasty Warrior to it's Xtreme Legends version(like Dynasty Warriors 5 to Dynasty Warriors 5 Xtreme Legends) because Xtreme Legends is considered an Expansion.

Compare Dynasty Warriors 3 to 5. They kept the same gameplay(Whoop *** and gain items) but changed the appearances, music and items. Those are rent games because they can be completed quickly.

I buy em all for the hell of it, but they are more rent games.

Aside from that, odds are the next one will be samurai warriors2 instead of DW6.

Its really loosely based on actual history. But they dont do anything new with ANY of the games. The items have bene the same since dynasty warriors 3. Same horses. The biggest changes ive seen is the characters. Sure they have the Tiger and elephant but like..cmon. Give me a reason to look foward to the next game. Get some online play. SOMETHING. Dynasty Warriors 5 is what Dynasty Warriors 4 SHOULD HAVE been.

DW5 should've had Hero Maker, that's why it sucked for me.

The game just ends way too fast. Sure it has some replay value, but not much.

Same horses? With reason. They are historical horses, they were the property of the various lords. A big big drawback was the lack of Create-an-Officer in Dynasty Warriors 5. I cleared it because I'm a die-hard fan but that's pretty much it.

The game is completed when every bodyguards are S/Superior, all ultimate weapons, maxed characters and Level 20 items. Takes a while if you don't have the experience.

I played the first Dynasty Warriors and have watched people play the others. It does seem like there's a huge amount of them coming out super-quickly, but y'know, they're going off the principle, "If it's not broken, don't fix it."

As long as people keep buying the game, they're sure to keep making it. Another thing: Has anyone seen Dyanasty Warriors DS yet? I haven't played it, but it looks quite different from t's console siblings. It's got cute little sprites and all that fun stuff.

I understand that but, the game really isnt all that historical. Id say like....45% of it is actually historical. And either way, seriously, people buy games to have FUN. Not for a history lesson. Honestly, its a GREAT game, but if you have DW3, you've basically played them all. Things they need:

Online Play
Strategy Maker
More customization with your bodyguards.
MORE HORSES AND ANIMALS!
More items.
More...elemtal...thingies...w/e the hell those are.
DO SOMETHING MORE WITH THE BATTLE SYSTEM! Its just so..basic.
An ACTUAL CREATE-A-CHARACTER! Not choose outfit, hair, and weapon. Cause the one in DW4 sucked.

I want to feel like I actually have a job in the battles. Like I actually have to go and help our strategy, and not just kick everyones ***. Sure there are a few battles where I have to do something in particular to make sure we win, but its rare.(Like those seige things and catapults, and make sure Liu Bei doesent escape) And...I WANT TO FEEL LIKE IM CONTROLLING A SINGLE UNIT. I want sub generals that I can send out to do something like.."General A, go capture that gate." And brign back the duel system. I loved that. The mini games were cool and stuff, but I want to do more than just mash on the x button until the screen says "VICTORY!"

Agree with what you said Revolution. It would be awesome to be able to use rockslides or pits and plan attacks with siege weapons. The game would atleast have a strategical value instead of 'whack til you drop'.

As far as animals are concerned, they must be Chinese animals since it's in China. Can't say what could make a good partner beside a tiger and an elephant.

Imagine having a Create-an-Officer using the wrestling CAW system(modifyed with armors and such), being able to fight the way Soul Caliburs fighters(move-wise) do and having the possibility to create rockslides, pits, water attack and use sieges weapons. That would be great if you ask me.

Meh, I think that part of those ideas would take away from the gameplay that people love so much, but it would bring out something new at least. That's what I sorta liked about DW4 Empires, it had a semi tactics feel to it.
