MGS is a very emotion game and you learn alot about most of the characters during it. You do play a way deeper role than on the outside. It's like a great movie or book. Once you begin, it'll swallow you whole and spit you out with more then when you entered it.

but like I said, the game play outweighs your customization and the personification YOU can put into that character. You're playing That character. You're not the character. Understand? it's a laid down plot that you play in. Not one you control, or atleast feel like you can.

point: You're taking my term of characterization too far. I expect people to understand the limit of games before they ask questions that are answered.

The way you describe it doesn't have a real line that says: "Now ya going to faaar!"

I think that the big gap the exists between action and the turn based RPGs is the lack of elements the first one has. You do not level up. You donīt get experience. You donīt really plan anything out. YOu just bang the button (somehow I think this was a curse expression...itīs not my native language, so meh)...

Every game ever has a main character that you control.
You always play a role..
That doesn't mean it's an RPG. Ummm.. I wanna say it's a misnomer, but that's not the right word.

Action RPGs absolutely exist..
Dark Cloud, Actraiser, and Kingdom Hearts.. how else could you describe them?
