I have a problem. The mp3 is only about 2 megabytes but when I put it to play in rm2k3, it doesn't want to play it for some reason. It plays midi's fine, but it doesn't play the mp3, does anyone know why? Do I need to reduce the filesize?

Some mp3s just do that, I think it has something to do with their bit rate. Maybe check an mp3 that works in the game and check its bit rate and compare it to an mp3 that doesn't work. Then convert the bit rate somehow to the same as the one that does work.
I don't think it has anything to do with the file size though.

Hey DragonBlaze, what if it's bitrate is only 96? It should play shouldn't it? Or does it need to go lower? Because it plays other mp3's that are higher.

Huh, I just compared an mp3 that worked with one that didn't, their bit rate, audio sample, channels, and all that were identical. I know that once with a bit rate of something other than 320 kbs are more likely to not work, but I guess thats not everything.
I'm guessing rpg maker just doesn't like some mp3s. Maybe rm2k3 uses a slightly differant codac that can't handle mp3s encoded with a particular program, who knows. Anyway, I'm sorry I couldn't be more of a help.

No no! By all means you were a big help! If you didn't answer my question I would probably still be importing-exporting the mp3 like an idiot trying to make it work somehow! Thanks dude!

I have the lastest version of rm2k3. Everything plays when i test it out, but when I try to play them in the game, the track is silent. I've only come across two that haven't worked, a majority of the songs I tried did though. So I'm guessing you either just haven't come across an mp3 that doesn't work, or you haven't tryed playing it in the game.
Oh, i just thought of something, if you really need this mp3, you could try converting it to a WAV, then converting it back to an MP3. If it can't be played because it was converted or encoded with a wierd program, that may solve the problem. Otherwise, just don't worry about it and find a differant song that works.
