Will my storyline offend anyone?

This is related to my game. If anyone thinks it should be moved please move it. It's kind of a personal issue.

     I'm actually a 16 year old black kid who lives 20 minutes outside of St. Louis. I listen to Hip-Hop (Mainstream, Underground, and some old stuff). My favorite rappers are Nas, Lil Wayne, Murs, The Game, Common, and I just heard about Little Brother. I'm kind of a regular kid. Also I do not speak like I post. I just like to type like this over the internet.

     Originaly Seda and Amaru were Black but I decided to put in the new races. My favorite race Nu Mou of FF Tactics Advance was cut out of FF12. I'm still pissed.

     Now in my game none of my main characters are black. I know that. What I want is to explain why Black Mages and actual Black People don't mix in FF. I'm okay with it but I have white friends who think it's weird that I play Final Fantasy.

     Instead of main characters, I put black folks as some of the most important people in the game. The entire community of Annelist people is 90 percent black (NOT AN ACTUAL ESTIMATE), Darrius Bryant the dragoon from Vailles is black, The Cid is still white but he grew up in the Gaston Undercity (That is a mostly black neighborhood) and Darrius is his best friend.

     Also, the espers in my game represent the concept of slavery and the after effects of it. This is the real part that is getting at me. Should I change it? The espers are based on the ones from Final Fantasy 9. They change their physical form, their mentality, and their emotions based on the thoughts of the Humes. In itself it's a good idea, but I want to know if it offends anyone. If it does I can change it.

     Like I said before, If this belongs in the wrong section please move it. I'm new so I don't know any better. I want to know if I'm normal or If I'm sick and crazy. I wanted to write about things I knew. Yes I know drug dealers, yes I have seen guns outside of school, and yes I know, have been called, and use the n word. I want help. I don't really know what I'm asking. I'm not biased, prejudicial, or racist at all. I'm not biased against anyone who is gay . I may be Christian but I will never judge a person if they are of a different religion or if they do not practice any known religions.

     If I'm offending anyone right now please tell me. If my storyline is crossing the boundry line don't be afraid to say so. I will change it. I ask for the opinions of those from different backgrounds. Am I normal, twisted, or just confused? I really need help on this.

Dude it's cool with me. I don't think you should change a bit, or even do so if anyone say's they are offended by it. If it's what you believe, and you like it, don't change it for no one. It's yours.

I also dislike how most of the heroes in video games are mostly white. Probably because the Japanese game makers are all a bunch of jerks. So yeah, go ahead.

If you want to make a game with ideas sprouting from the concept of freedom, desperation, sorrow and emotions generally associated with the black slavery, go ahead, but if you go extremist and carry across the subliminal idea of "White people = bad; black people= good" like I have seen similar games/stories/movies do, you would ruin it completely.

Yeah, that's true. But you seem like a very practical guy, so I'm expecting (and hoping) for a realistic outlook.

     No, no one race in my game is evil at all. I'm not that kind of person. In fact I've been raised around a good deal of both white and black people. Since all FF games have a theme I want the theme "Look past appearances and see a person from the inside." I have some awesome antagonists in my story. One is black. A few are white. Some aren't of the human race. They are all very deep and I've worked hard to write them. In fact some of them aren't evil at all.

In case you're wondering, I want to become a novelist. I already have a good idea about the story I want to do.

I like playing as white people (only because I'm light skinned), but I don't have a problem with any race of people (I would have a pretty hard time playing GTA:SA, wouldn't I?). And you shouldn't be worried about offending people based on character color, it's your game. Just put in a disclaimer somewhere if you feel it'll offend someone.

I think there are to little (or no) games that show black people non steoreotipical (sp?). In games like GTA and all the gangsta games. Me personaly i don't really like hip hop and i am black so sue me.

Stereotypes and labels suck period. I myself am not just one label. At anyone time I could be called skater, rocker, punk, hippy, geek, bookworm, retard, etc. And this can be said for pretty much anyone who ever decided to just be themselves. Another falacy(sp?) of society uncovered.
