Windows Product Activation
« on: July 17, 2006, 09:32:54 PM »
This is just one of the reasons I think Bill Gates is the embodiment of evil. I get this message that comes up saying

"Windows Must Be Activated In (#) Days. Do You Want To Activate Now?"

I've seen this before. No, we are not bootlegging our copy of Windows. Our copy is legitimate. We even have the Activation Code.

For some reason, the files responsible for re-activating are not there. Shouldn't there be a thing under the Start-All Programs-Accessories-System Tools? It isn't there.

My dad has already looked into this 3 days ago. There are files missing. This isn't right.

We've already tried contacting Windows. The lines are always busy. I'll try myself tomorrow but I don't know if they'll tell me anything since I'm a kid.

I've already made back-ups of everything that is important on my computer. I won't lose a day of work on my game, but I can't work on it until this is fixed or passes.

We do have a legitimate copy of Windows and we do have the activation code. We still can't activate our copy and we have 3 days (including this one) to do so. If you have any info on this PLEASE give it!

And just to prove we are serious, you have 2 days.

Something similar happened to me once. After the comp froze, I rebooted it and it told me my legit version of Windows was burnt. Then it made me wait a bit before it went to log in.

Never heard from it since.

My advice: BAM get the files from another comp.

It might be possible that your comp has a virus or spyware or something, and someone deleted those files. It happens to me all the time, like right now I'm missing some files. Meh..

Great...this might actually be the reason.

I'll just wait it out I guess. I made my backups.

Yeah, that sucks balls but it happens. Just try and run some anti-virus or something and see what happens.

You could try setting your computer clock back a few years....

It might just add a few thousand days till your expiration.

Darkfox! For fucks sake! Don't say stuff like that. You know it scares me.

...

Must... resist urge... to set back clock... to 1953....

EDIT: Ok so I couldn't set the clock to 1953, 1980 is my limit, but I could set it to 2095... I advise you... DON'T DO IT. My computer got all slow, I logged of from Charas and it made a weird weezing noise... It was really ****ing scary...

lol

Anyways, try running your disk of Windows again.  Or run Scandisk if you can.  And your Anti-Vi software.  That could help.

I'll try this.
« Reply #14 on: July 18, 2006, 02:18:38 PM »
2 Days.

I already ran the Virus Protection and the Spyware Protection. It took 3 hours. We have that much memory. It found no viruses or spyware.

I think I'll just try running the disc again.

About the clock thing, don't you think Microsoft would be able to see through that?
