Resource Rating
« on: August 01, 2006, 06:06:32 PM »
This thread will be used to judge whether a resource is ready to be used in the game. Right now I'm the only judge, but I'm going to be asking people I think have a good eye if they want to judge the quality of a resource.

There won't be any strict rules - a judge basically gives some input, and then says Yes or No. If any of the Judges approve your resource, you have permission to post it in the approved resource thread, although if you want you can wait to get some more input on it first.

When posting a resource to be rated, you should briefly describe what it is and what it will be used for.

If one judge says no and another says yes, then we will discuss it and come to an agreement somehow. Although if one judge says no than it's a pretty good idea to work on it a bit in the meantime.

I'll be trying to be as truthful and non-biased as possible, so please bear with me.

I photoshopped the title screen.

I did this for fun, but if you like it, we can use it.

Linkizcool - I like the top one except for the binary in the background  it's too obvious. And if you want to change the style of the text, I wouldn't be opposed, as then you could anti-alias it to look smoother.

Is that character in the bottom left a guy or a girl? Looks disturbing indeterminate.

Other other ones seem acceptable.

Its a girl.  You may want to make her a pixel thinner or something, and make it so you can see the hair from the front.

I was playing around with a charset for the mother of w/e the mains name. Its not finished yet, still in the brain storming process. But how does it look now.

I have the basic hairstyle already in mind. Color can be changed if you have a defined hair color for her. I also couldnt decide if i should or shouldnt put a hair net type thing on her( on the bottom left has w/ and w/out hair net). There are also the side views, which for some reason came out a lil short but i can fix that later.
I put an orange hankerchief around her neck, over a white button shirt thats is unbuttoned near the bottom. And she also has on a brownish skirt, because i had no idea what to put on her.  Also clothing colors can also be changed with no problem.

Would you guys use it if i bothered to finish it or should i just dump it?

I'd like for stuff that isn't being submitted to be put in the game to have it's own thread(doesn't have to be one per resource, one per person would be fine) - we have a whole forum, we should use it. :P

As for that sprite, she looks pretty young to be someone's mother - perhaps a single ponytail or none at all, and a different shirt. And no hairnet, it doesn't work too well. Good work otherwise. :)

Alright, next time ill just post it in the "stuff we need" thread since it was for Jef's Mother.  And that project is junked. lol.  I just figured since she was able to tame an adventurous guy.  She would probably be one of those really nice chicks, but turns really scary and possible violent when she gets mad.  And those types of people usually have either long hair put up or in pony tail.  But since you said unique, i couldn't go ordinary and i was lazy, so i just made 2 clumps.  And made clothes on her that wouldnt look like any other women in the town, more youthful and vibrant.

Edit:Oh btw i put it here because i assumed it had to be posted here first, so i wouldnt just be wasteing space in the game thread.

Oh and since im a judge now.  Muahahahaha.

As for moose's Charset sheet.  The clothes look fine, though the hair looks flat, boring, and sticking to there head.  It needs some volume, some poof, flair, or w/e.  With that style for hair you dont really get much room for variations.

Heres another title. I don't really like it, but whatever.

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b155/Linkizcool/newtitle.png

Here is a chipset I found on RPG2Knet. I think it could fit for the first town. The author was listed as "Unknown".

That chipset is just what we've been looking for - awesome. APPROVED.

As for the title, I guess if you just took the binary out of the first one it would work. Maybe we should wait on it a bit and just use one of the proposed ones here as a placeholder until we can get a better one going.
