Plain area mapping
« on: August 12, 2006, 08:11:19 AM »
I can't do it! It looks horrible. I really need a tutorial on how to make these areas. It sounds easy but it isn't. So please someone be kind enough to explain how to do it and. Screenshots would be terrific!

BTW checked Meiscools mapmaking tutorial. Only forests, cliffs and towns there.  :|

Just don't make it all uniform. Like add some differant looking grass, maybe some dirt, a rock here or there.

If it doesn't look to interesting, thats ok considering that its supposed to be that way. Just as long as not all your maps are like that.

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

Should it be a free-to-go type place, or a bit limited path?

I'll try making it tomorrow. I'll post my results. Maybe you can give me some tips after you see my work :)

(I don't have enough chips to do that....) Anyways, just make a normal area with a path. Plains don't have to be REALLY eye-popping, but it'd be nice. Also, to draw their attention from it, be like me and place the occasional event like ambushes, chests to lure them away from the main path etc..........
