Anyan was surprised by Ragnar's sayings. He ahd broughts his deadly red dragons with him...

Ragnar noticed Liara, and said to his friend, I'll stick around here... I'll wait until Alziel arrives to show up. See you later kids!"
and he dissappeared.

Anyan, then turned to Liara: "Heh, my friend is somehow funny... I am fine by the way. The sea does not just suit me at all... I've been seasick since I was a kid..."
Anyan stared at Liara's face. She was even more beautiful under the shining moon. He smiled and said: "Heh, you remind me of someone who was very beloved to me. It's funny how time tricks us sometimes, right?"

Liara nodded silently. She knew that Anyan's memories tended to assault him sometimes, she had seen him focus alone a few times.

"The time has come and everybody's late... except for us two and the old man of course..." said Anyan, as Liara laughed when he said "old man". "I wonder what is going to happen next..." he said.

Alziel climbed the stairs to the deck.

There was a smattering of people here, he decided, but not enough to carry out any kind of plan with. It was dark, and the other ship was silent. Broadsword was on that ship, as were all those soldiers.

Still, they could wait and hope.

Alziel greeted the others.

"I cannot show you my part of the plan yet", he sighed, "But I hope that once we are all here, we can think of something. Perhaps someone will have had an idea".

He looked at Liara. She appeared determined; ready for whatever she had to do.

This would be a time to do something.

He thought to Broadsword, and the arrows in his quiver. Even if he was hurt, or worse, in the process, he would do his best to ensure the two met at some point.

Monty Awaited, with the rest of the group gathered, in silence, quietly scanning the expressions of those around him.

"If the mood here tonight is any indication of the mood of the rest of our trip, this will be a foreboding Journey indeed"

Monty twirled a pair of throwing knives in his hand, admiring their gleam in the reflecting light....

Monty couldnt help but think of the history he had with these knives. For years, he had relied on them. They were far more accurate, in his hands, than many hunters bows were, in their own abilities.
The Incantations helped too. They had been imbued with a magic that increased thier velcity to pierce steel in many cases, and return to him, much like a boomerang.

In the course of his life, he had only lost one, of his five knives, and had no intentions of losing any more.

"Alziel" Liara said, as if only just noticing him. "What if no-one else turns up? Should we continue anyway?

The ships had left dock and were speeding silently away from the place where he contestants called home- the twinkling lights from shore fading to sky black. Now the slight wind chilled the group on the deck, as they all turned towards Alziel for an answer, a course of action.

In that moment of time, whether or not they would admit it, they all turned towards their leader.

Alziel frowned. He hated this sort of attention. He had always been one to follow orders and follow them well. Leyland and the others in the group would always lead. Now it was his turn.

"I have a feeling Saine will be here soon", Alziel said quietly, feeling himself flush slightly at the attentive stares coming his way. "But there is no time to lose, the journey is underway. Basically, the plan we have so far is simple. Many of the soldiers will not have volunteered to go to the West. They will still be swayed by the childhood stories they were told about those lands. So, we must give them a scare tonight. If we do this well, I bet none of those soldiers will want to leave their ship at the end of the journey. Especially if Broadsword is out of the way".

He looked across to the large ship sailing beside the smaller one.

"We have no way of boarding that ship, so all our actions will have to be taken from here. Speaking of which, we should begin".

He had seen a guard appear on the deck of the large ship and look around. Fortunately there was enough darkness to prevent him from seeing the people assembled on the smaller ship.

Alziel reached for his quiver and took out one of the arrows dipped in Calafas Oil. It had fermented slightly, so that a sweet smell rose. Everyone except Liara sniffed and wondered what the smell was. Liara smiled, and muttered "Calafas Oil" under her breath. So the Sprites were the only ones who knew about this.

Alziel reached for the book of matches he had stolen earlier. He took one match, struck it and lit the oil, so that a small white glow sprang up and a hissing noise came from the flame. He notched the arrow to his bowstring, still glowing, and taking aim, launched it a distance across the deck of the large ship.

The guard cried out and recoiled as the light flew in front of him. Two more guards appeared on deck. The first guard turned, stumbled, muttered something about ghosts. Alziel lit another and took aim, this time aiming to hit. The arrow struck the guard
in the side as he ran, the light extinguished. He stumbled over the railing and fell into the sea.

Panic broke out within the two remaining guards. They had witnessed a pair of hissing lights fly past, one of them killing a fellow guard. Both ran for the cover of the stairs down below deck, but Alziel was faster, and one of the men was brought down - he too tripped and fell over the railing into the sea. the third guard cried out, panicked, and ran down the stairs at full speed. The sound of shouting and rushed storytelling could be heard below the deck.

Alziel smiled ruefully. Both men had fallen into the sea, so there was no risk of the cause of their deaths being discovered. Soon the entire ship would be filled with the story of the supernatural lights which killed men.

Alziel, meanwhile, sighed and turned to Liara, who looked him hard in the eye. "I'm sorry", he mumbled, before turning to the others.

"So it is underway. All of you, if you have a plan of your own, you should put it into effect soon. We have them scared". He smiled, and loped back away from the group to watch what the others would do.

Monty had been lost inn thought and when the ruckus broke out, He couldnt help but realize he was underprepared.

Monty was never much of a swimmer, but holding his knives in hand, Monty knelt dow n below visual range of the other ship, with his head peering just slightly over the edge of the Bulkhead.

Taking a knive in hand, monty took aim at a guard to the ships ster, who was standing out of visual range of the other shipstaff...and close enough to the edge to fall over with a sudden shock.

*****************************************************

The knife cut the air, with a very dulol blue glow, from both the moonlight, and the incantation set upon it.

It started out with a wobble, but quickly corrected itself mid air, and altered its trajectory only slightly, to veer towards the guards neck..

*****************************************************

The guard hit the water hard, but the shouting and commotion of the other guards dwarfed it in sound. It was unlikely that anyone would hear the spalsh over the ocean swells, and commotion...,.

"That should clear an entry position onto the ship'

Monty took a precise aim at the door to the Ships Quarters, to await an oncoming broadword, and hopefully catch him unaware.

With his hood now drawn, monty was barely visible in the night air, to even his peers, let alone a homonid on the other ship,...even one with keen eyes.

Broadsword was reading a book in his quarters when he heard the commotion. The guards were all yelling about men overboard.
"Damn it." he muttered. Either those soldiers were idiots, or... this was a trap. He knew too well that nearly everyone on this godforsaken mission would profit from his own demise - and the slaying of a soldier would create a situation in which he would be vulnerable to a sniper's arrow. He had been victim to this kind of attack before - but he had learned from his mistake.
"You, wench. Come here." he called to a red-haired maiden.
"Yes, my lord?"
"Go outside, and get two of the soldiers to come into my quarters to give me a report."
"Of course, my lord." She opened the door, and stepped out - only to be instantly slain by a small glowing object. Just as he expected.

*OCC: My bro didn't post, I'll tell him to do so later, for now he'll let me have a bit of control over Ragnar*

Ragnar stood in the dark as the attack begun. "Too often... ah what the hell..." he though, as he went inside the little ship's quarters. There was a dirty sailor in there.

"Report..." said Ragnar. The sailor looked at him and said: "Everything's set up sir. All you have to do is give us the order..."

Ragnar looked at his guild agent. "Good job, release the 'dragons', matey!" said Ragnar. The agent smiled and, with a bit of magic, made a green light come out of his hand. Suddenly, two sailor jumped into the sea and swam fastly towards a small boat.

An explosion.

The sea shined under this bright light of destruction, as the large ship engulfed itself in red flames from below.

Ragnar went to the deck, armed with his crossbow. "Where are you brat...?" he thought.

--------------------------

Anyan was on the deck, before the explosion went off. He saw as Alziel took down the men.

"I'd best start acting like a man..." said Anyan. he jumped into the sea, and swam towards the large ship. He climbed through a rope that was hanging, and the stood on the large ship's deck. He saw Alziel going into the sea, so he would be on the large ship soon.

But then... an explotion. "The red dragons already?! Stupid old man!" thought Anyan. The fire had caught the ship from below, so it would burn slowly.

"This is magic fire... it can only be extinguished by magic water... It burns slowly, allowing... fights to take place for example!" thought Anyan. "That old man always calculates everything..."

Anyan saw a dead woman on the floor. "That was Alziel's doing..." he thought. There was a door before him.

"The Viper is ready... I bet you are over there... Master..." thought Anyan. He certainly was afraid, after a long time ago...

But he would not run away.

Suddenly a guard appeared behind him. With a fast move, Anyan drew the Viper and plunged it into the guard's stomach.

The guard didn't even scream, dying at the instant.

Anyan had a fierce look in his cold, red eyes, which were shining even brighter with the fire coming slowly from below.

Broadsword should come out in a second... or would Anyan maje him come?

He didn't think twice. "If I die, I'll die as a brave man! For you Dehllia!" screamed Anyan, as he kicked the door, and found his master holding his sword, as he had expected him all along...

Broadsword smiled at Anyan. "Good to see you." he remarked. "How have you been?"
"You... why?" Anyan stammered.
"You were always my most promising student, Anyan. You had the potential to become the greatest Knight in the land... but you were always a bit too rebellious." A glint of something in his eye seemed to suggest that he was saddened by speaking those words. "I will not ask you to join me or anything foolish like that - I know that your heart is set on defeating me. So, if you have anything to ask of me, do it now - for I will not hold back once you are ready."

"Master..." said Anyan: "Why do you follow the King? You know he is a tirant... You know what he did to my family and why..."

When he said this, Anyan stared to his sword, the Viper. "I acknowledged from good sources that the King always desired this sword... He didn't hesitate to send my father, the only knight who could ever match you, to the West, to die. Master... I wish not to fight you, but I must do it. The King must be stopped. And If you won't change your mind..." as he said this, he held tightly the Viper:" ... then I'll risk my life fighting you, Master!"

After speaking, Anyan stepped forward once, waiting for an attack, or a response from his Master. He was ready to fight.

Broadsword once again looked saddened at his former pupil. "I do not support the actions of the King of late. The cover story of the attack from the West was... not needed."

"Then... why? Why do you still follow him?"

"... ...I won't lie to you, Anyan. I enjoy being a noble. I enjoy using the power that the King has given to me - the power to do nearly anything I want. I will... tolerate the actions of the King for this power." He went into a battle stance. "Words are no longer needed. Ready yourself, Anyan!" With that, Broadsword swung his massive blade, striking the ground and creating large cracks in the floor.

MOnty watched it all transpire from his own ship. His dagger had sitten an innocent servant girl...Montys Aim was surgical....His actions, however, was too hasty...The glowing dagger flitted swiftly back to Montys Leather Gloved hand

A light flood of guilt washed over him, but he choked it back, Upon seeing anyan conversing with an unseen figure, that monty assumed to be broadsword.....

"SNAP!" Monty thought out loud.

"Had anyan drawn him outside, I could have got a damaging shot in"

Monty continued to watch from his post, in hopes of seizing another shot...

Liara grabbed the rail  of the deck as the larger ship was racked with red explosions. Everyone was taking their seperate actions- many swam toward the ship, Monty and Alziel staying back and attacking from afar.

"They've set the ship alight!" Alziel shouted. "We needed to get those documents!"
"There's still time!" Liara replied. She spread her wings and took to the unpredictable skies, moving towards the ship. Alziel and Monty both shifted their gaze to the deck of the bigger ship, aware that the sprite was painfully visible in the night sky. If they allowed an archer to get a shot at her, neither of them would have forgiven themselves.

A frantic guard spotted liara from afar, through a haze of smoke arising from the bellows of the ship....

A quick glint cut the night skies, and with that, the guard had fallen.

"Damn whoever summoned these flames. This was not a good idea.

This was pure stupidity. The documents, and our allies could all sink to the depths with the ship"

Monty readied his crossbow, and a handfull of bolts. Allthough his knives were potent weapons, they were not fast enough for the chaos that was about to unfold.

OOC: Look, I appreciate that this is everyone's RP and the storyline is open to anyone. But that's no reason why the plot we already have has to change to something completely different every other post.

BIC:

Alziel cursed. This had been a covert operation, performed in the dead of night in pure secrecy. And now it had become a siege. Warriors, all of them the same. Where there had been pride, there was now foolishness.

He frowned and took aim as another guard appeared on deck, spotted Liara and cranked his crossbow. He fell before he had finished loading his weapon. Alziel looked to his right. It was fine for Monty, he had enchanted knives, unlimited ammunition. Soon Alziel would run out of arrows, and then he would be unable to protect Liara...

An idea came to him. He put his bow on his shoulder and ran down the stairs.

"Everyone", he said to the remaining contestants. "The large ship is now under siege. We are removing the soldiers and Broadsword from the contest, permanently". A cheer went up, but Alziel shouted over them. "-- The large ship is ablaze --". Another cheer. " ...But we need you all to swim over there and help. No soldiers should be left after tonight. If they live, we are all finished".

He turned and ran up the stairs, followed by the remaining contestants. Each and every one of them made a dive over the railing and into the sea, swimming to the large cruiser. Sounds of battle quickly ensued.

Alziel looked up, scanning the sky. Finally he spotted Liara, wings glittering against the night sky. A moment later two guards arrived on deck. Alziel took aim and brought down one, and the second was run through by Cefan of Flintbay, the brown-bearded dwarf who had been the last to be selected.

Alziel sighed. Liara would be across soon. Torn between a ranged offensive and close protection, he made a snap decision and took a step onto the railing. As he did so, a guard spotted him and took aim with his own bow. The first arrow missed Alziel by a good five yards. Monty brought the guard down before he could fire a second.

"I'm going over", Alziel said to Monty. "Cover Liara. If I come under fire, do your best to help". He turned, making sure that his hunting knife was safe. After a second, he stepped off the rail and hit the water.

It was icy cold, and for the first few moments he did not notice it as he checked his bow. Fortunately it was still intact; he still had the knife, and his quiver was also fine. Then the cold hit him and swam as quickly as he could to the other side.

As he touched the wood of the cruiser, a rope ladder fell. Alziel looked up through the hair plastered to his forehead and saw Liara smiling down at him.

He climbed as quickly as he could and waved back to Monty that he was fine. A guard ran past yelling, before Grothin the Forth caught up with him on the deck and brought him down with a warrior's cheer.

Alziel frowned and notched an arrow to his bowstring, proceeding down the stairs slowly with a nod to Liara. He was supposed to be covering her until she reached Broadsword's documents, he knew. But the documents were in Broadsword's room. And apparently, from the sounds of battle up ahead, so was Broadsword.

He smiled ruefully so that Liara would not see. The hunt had begun.
