Honor Amongst Thieves
« on: January 18, 2007, 07:17:07 PM »
Basically, it's a short game about Grandy's biography, from spoiled rich boy, to Master Thief.

I'll try and resume on the features:

*A new Honor system - it's just like a reputation system, but differs in a little. As an example, most games with a reputation system, you lose points by killing a soldier that was loved by the population, in the Honor system, you'll lose points if you stab him in the back, but you'll actually gain Honor if you openlly chalenge him to a duel and defeat him.
There's 9 levels of Honor:
-Saint
-Trustworthy
-Do-gooder
-Kind-hearted
-Human
-Egoist
-Liar
-Scum
-Heartless

If you get the "Liar" Honor, the local police will start looking for you, "Scum" will get headhunters after you, and finnally, in "Heartless", Master Headhunters will try and get you.

*A stealing system - while not in battle, you'll be able to steal itens from people, symply by walking up to them and choosing the action "Steal". There's also a feature that alows you to get caught while stealing, which then opens three options: Run(Decrease Honor) Duel (Increase Honor) or Give Back Iten (Honor doesn't changes)
Stealing from strong-looking people might not be a good idea, as you have a higher chance of being caught, while stealing from children or old people will almost surely don't get caught. However, stealing from children or old ladies will plummel your honor rather quickly.

*A Peddler system - Just like the stealing system, however, peddler differs in two things:
Peddling doesn't decrease or increase honor, but your level of honor will increase or decrease how much money you get. ("Saint", as an example, will get you more money than "Human", and in "Liar", there's a chance people won't give you anything at all.)
You can't get itens from peddling, only money.
In addition to that, even with "Saint" honor, the ammount of money you get won't be high, thus if you want quick money you'll have to steal.

*At least three diferent endings, depending of your Honor level.

 --Characters--
Grandy Eagleye - Main protagonist, ran away from home while he was young.

Okneoth Azthael - The leader of a gang of thieves who eventually finds Grandy and takes him under his wing.

Sheng Tzu - Part of the S.W.A.M. force (Speacial Weapons And Magicks)

Atikkus Gizrael - Great magician, appears sometimes in the game, and in one of the endings.

 Eruse - Atikkus aprendice.

I won't give more information about each character in order not to spoil anything.

You can check a resume of the main plot in Grandy's biography in the charas' wiki.

Sounds like it will make a nice short little game. That depends on the battle system though.

Sounds like having low honor would be more fun.
I figure you should be rewarded by killing people with stealth, but it still looks like a cool game.

You get rewarded, if you kill them with stealth, you'll get the experience... without having to fight!

Yeah, I just though that up. But it sounds good. I'll see what I can do.

Yeah, challenging a guard to a duel wouldn't go so well.. He'd probably just call 10 other guys. :(

Well, in every RPG or books I read, most guards are like "Grar! I do not need help to finish punks like this! Grar!" so...
