This is an outline of my project, Orbcross. Its recently gone under some massive revamp... Here it be!

Terminology:

Resource Extraction Facility:
-Used in the 4000 era, resource extraction facilities use magick power on machineary to teleport a planet or space region's resources directly to another part of the star system. These were largely used for Scavenge Planets and areas of space which had high densities of unused energy. The planet which owned a specific facility would receive the channeled resources and energy via teleportation magick. Being as some of these facilities were deep in unihabited space, mechanical AI ran these, though maintenence teams would sometimes enter facilities. During the war between the Aphic and Yulokai systems, many of these were abandoned, and only a few remain active today.

Uncial Planets:
-The capital planet of a star system. Aphic's uncial planet is Routhe, while Yulokai's uncial planet is Bergall.

Scavenge Planets:
-Planets that are so overused in terms of resources or dumping of wastes are scavenge planets. They have no form of government and are simply policed by the uncial planet of the star system they belong to. Many are used a prisons or for illegal orb businesses, as well as assassination headquarters.

Spacedrifts:
-Unlike space vehicles used in the 2500-3500 era, the 4000 AP era used magickally powered spacecraft. This allowed a minimum of pollution and was a seemingly renewable resource.

Orbs:
-In their raw form, orbs emit high levels of magickal energy. Though its unknown where magick receives its power source from, it does not add to pollution and is seemingly renewable. Due to this, universal law places punishment on those who seek to profit from raw orb energy as energy in this era is not to be a commodity.

Rakitethism:
-A new religion birthed out of the new magickal era which began roughly about 3000 AP. Though once widely practiced, it is now seen as inhumane and cult-driven by most people. It still holds strong power in Jenos.

Pethos:
-The homeworld of mankind, lost as man traveled to the far reaches of space. History explains that when mankind left Pethos and technology became too advanced, he had to revert to using magick and begin the climb of technology again, as seen in the present with magickally powered machineary.

Humanity fled its polluted homeworld over 2 millenia ago, forced to use his technology and make space his new home. Pethos was soon forgotten as mankind explored new reaches of the universe. Technology advanced quickly, as it had to, and a new age of prosperity had begun. Though this was short lived. Something can only go so far as to when its complexity begins to buckle and it collapses under the weight of itself. Lost, humanity searched for new energy sources and ways of technology. The answer came in the form of their Pethosian past, in the way of magick. Found on the planet of Pharos were strange glowing orbs, and humans soon learned they could harness this power as a means of energy.
A new age was born in which technology advanced with the means of magick. Humans reverted to past culture and luxuriously lived as the Pethosians once did in total excess, calling on the formation of monarchies and praising archaic architecture.
For hundreds of years, humanity lived this. It is now 4904, the aftermath of a war nearly 17 years past, which has created poverty and distrust, a war between the star systems of Yulokai and Aphic.
Now humanity faces a strange phenomena. The Resource Extraction Facilities abandoned during the war between Aphic and Yulokai have suddenly started to show organic life forms, as reported by passing spacedrifts. This would be impossible, considering humans never ran these facilities. How and why did they get there?

An intruder spying on the abandoned resource extraction facility of Baros to investigate the strange phenomena that has been occuring there. His boss attests it to be reading organic life forms, though the facility itself was not run by humans, only robots. The only humans that should be in the area are maintenence specialists for the robots, yet considering the planet that owned the facility is extinct, this seems highly unlikely.


JAKRI
Age: Unknown (Appears to be in mid-20's)
Race: Unknown
Awakening with amnesia in the abandoned resource extraction facility of Baros, Jakri only recalls the moment before she was shot in the head, standing next to a man. She knows there were others surrounding her, and she even somehow saw the man
who had shot her, but anything further in her past draws a blank. After escaping Baros, she attempts to find the man she had seen beside her as to he may have answer about her past.


CYBE
Age: 27
Race: Jenosian
An assassin turned spy, Cybe once worked in the "underground" after he was kidnapped from his home on Jenos. He disliked the life of being an assassin however and used his skills to become a spy. He set up home on the Scavenge planet, Nethic, and works from there. Still keeping regular contact with his mentor, Cybe discovers a ship that lands on Nethic from Unakar, to which his mentor offers a hefty sum as to the answer of an Unakarian ship being on a scavenge planet. Cybe finds that the ship carries a hostage who may have information on why the ship was on the abandoned facility of Baros.


URSULA
Age: 25
Race: Kaythian
Though monarchy holds no power any longer in Kaythian politics, Ursula is the eldest princess and middle child of the royal Jentruse line. 15 years previously, after the war over Tula Cune resources, political power was stripped from the Jentruse family, a fact that would show the bitterness in her father's personality the years following. Ursula however, has welcomed the Kaythian Council, the new government, and has made great strides in using her status as a means to help her people. The royal family now only exists for mere status and pride of the planet. Ursula has broken into political ground however, with her success in vanquishing the caste system and her actions towards economic success in Kayth. This has garnered her large following and favoring by the Council. Her father, whom never seemed pleased with her actions, now pridefully suggests she take her research to the Yulokai uncial planet, Bergall. Overjoyed with her father's acceptance of her deeds, she agrees.


DONOVAN
Age: 29
Race: Larosian
His father illegally ran an orb harvesting business in Neo Laros until he suddenly went mad. With that, Donovan and his mother rapidly sank into poverty and Donovan refused to acknowledge his father's existence. To help free his mother's financial woes, he attended an academy to becoming a royal retainer, as the money was good. He began developing an illness which doctors attributed to his massive exposure to raw orbs during his father's business days. Though afflicted, he is able to maintain a normal lifestyle by exerting magickal energies, which he does normally as a retainer. He only just transferred to Kayth to become the retainer for the Princess Ursula, and must accompany her on a mission to Bergall.


LUPINE
Age: 26
Race: Jenosian
An ex-priestess of the Rakiteth religion, Lupine left the sect shortly after her husband's disappearance. Claiming she saw the corrupt nature of the religion as it imposed inhumane rules on its followers, her leave also stirred rumors that she was involved with her husband's disappearance, and she suddenly became the target of radical extremists, once she spoke on the horrors it brought to its followers in her last sermon. Jenosian government which is strongly affected by the Rakiteth, banished her from the planet and placed high bounty on her head. Lupine fled to the moon of Orica, where she joined an anti-Rakiteth resistance group. As she was with a group attempting to knock out a Rakiteth resource extraction facility, she was infected with a crippling virus that still affects her today.


NICOLAI
Age: 24
Race: Tempesian
Growing up being fascinated by chemistry and creation, Nicolai delved into studies that focused on the supernatural and effects that chemistry had on them or how it was affected by the supernatural as well. His interests lie in what isn't discovered and has been known to create cures for several illnesses without the use of nanomachines. He had an older brother who died in a ship explosion 6 years ago, though the two were never close. Upon reports of this phenomena, he is extremely interested, yet lacks the funds and team in order to fully investigate.
