Tales of FREAKING Destiny, dang it
« on: June 28, 2007, 07:53:39 PM »
So.
I have been looking for this game for 4 years, since the time I almost beat it and my disc was purposefully destroyed.
Twice. Yes, two copies, sabotages because my little sister had an inane crush on Cloud Strife and resented my poor ToD because with it in the house, she did not see her Cloudie-Woudie often enough. and yeah, that's what she called him. o.o
My frivolous plans now include buying the freaking game. And I am happy. Despite its disgusting pricetag, and the fact that my money could be more wisely spent. I rarely make silly buys, and this will be worth it. I say.
Thoughts on this unbearably underrated game, let them commence.

ToS is the one that made me really get into the series, so I don't know much other than that one.  My bro and I played it when I was like...five...but I don't remember it much.  TotW FTL by the way ;P

FTL usually means for the lose...

And I loved ToS, but I got really sick of video games in general lately. I was really enjoying TotA...

I could never get into the Tales of series. They always seem so boring to me. I will admit that the music is incredible, and that I use a lot of it in my games.

So let's here some thoughts. Why do you like the Tales of games? Be specific.

Adventure. RPG. Comedy. But most of all epic/complex/actually good storylines. Also the destinctive battle style it has.. uh, special attacks and sutff like that. The characters too.

Also, summons.

I love Tales of Destiny for a few reasons:
-Storyline that surprises me. Some of the twists in this game leave me wide-eyed, jaw dropped, throwing expletives at the TV and saying "Say it ain't so!" Because they really leave an impact on the player.
-A great mix of humor and drama. There are many moments that just make you smile, and others that just depress you. In a good, dramatic way, you know.
-The battle system. It's not just hit the button, watch your guys kill. It's just awesome, with you in full control of one guy and being able to command the strategy of your other party members. Like the gambits in FF12, only really fun.
-I love the music. My brother made up words to the ToD battle theme, it's funny. And I have a bunch of it on my compie.
-It's gorgeous. I don't care that it could be on the SNES. It's gorgeous, and it just fits so perfectly. I've seen the remake (and routinely bemoan its not-being-translated state), and it retains the softness of the original while looking like it's full anime. Which really works for the game, I think.
-Playing the "tell-the-difference-between-Leon-and-Rutee" game is fun. If you've played/seen pics, you may know what I mean. Poor girly emo boy.
-Unconcentional story setup. You rarely see games where you honestly think it's the end.... and then something totally new pops up. ToD does this, splendidly.

If you haven't played, I can't recommend any to you. I've only played ToD, and like I said, I'm looking at $60. unless you read Japanese, in which case you can pick up the remake for $20--$30.
TotW is coming to the states, I think for the PSP? Or maybe the DS. I dunno. But the Gamestop guy told me. And he says Stahn is in it. Which makes me a happy camper.
Maybe they'll bring the remake of ToD? And the original ToD2, not ToE? Maybe? *prays*
Not..... that I'm obsessed. Or anything.

No... just a pirate. <.<'

Wait TotW? The one where you are either of two character from nowhere that can transform into Tales series and namco characters?

*googles*

Yeah Narikiri Dungeon.

I had the gba version. I thought it was confusing because it's almost novel-lik, but I mostly got it to rip the sprites from.

Don't remind me. about a month that I found out about it, it got bamboozled.

I would've gotten highly addictive to that game.
