wow, according to my grams, something similar happened in the town where I was born in mexico. people were convicned to all gather into a room and pray until the holy spirit came.  eventually, without the people's aknowledgement, they released propane gas or one of a sort into the room. soon the people began feelin' it and supposively it was the holy spirit within their body.
the feds eventually broke it up before anyone died I guess..

anywho...

pokemon fuckin' rock.

The biggest surprise was seeing you return from non-existance pops 0_o

The article was also hilarious. The best thing is that they don't know how hilarious they are. And they were talking about Dungeons and Dragons as if that was obviously the devil's work, and that the argument was whether pokemon was also the devil's work XDDDD

They seriously need to play some Doom and put on some cradle of filth.

I almost agree with ZKX. :(

I believe it was Jim Jones, or something, and he fed them all cyanide-laced koolaid.

Yeah, Jim Jones of the People's Temple. There was a special about it on the history channel =). He took them all to this retreat thing, making them believe he was sent by god or something. They did this interview with him, and like, everyone started coming clean telling the reporters that they really didn't want to be there, so he killed them all via mass suicide before they could get away and before anyone could find out to save them.

By the way, Pokemon kicks ass!!! I have over 800 cards, which are all sitting to the immediate right of me. Yellow is in my GBA ready to be played, Blue is right next to it, and I just spent half the night playing Snap! for the first time in forever.

You just know this is the kind of guy who would never let his children masturbate.
And who punishes them when they do. Or when he thinks they do. And quite frankly, he must think of it at all times.

I have the first 6 pokemon games...

But honestly, it's people like that, that REALLY make me hate religion. They seem to think that EVERYTHING is going to damage a child. Honestly, if a child can't tell the difference between fuckin POKEMON and real life... nothing is going to save them anyways...

It's kind of funny how people as moronically religious as this will do their utmost to link anything with evil and Satan. It is as though anything remotely imaginative is bad, and God is good and God alone.

I mean, look.

Lol, what? I would like to see some kid shouting "Pikachu! I choose you!" and knowingly unleashing the spawn of Beelzebub.

Yes, let's all encourage our children to use their imaginations, as long as they know that magic ponies and racecars are all possible because of God's power. Er, no. It's not just Pokemon that the article targets, it's really all things where a kid makes something up instead of letting God have all the fun. The bit about the kid talking about "using psychic powers", that must be Satanic, right? Frickin' stupid. Hey, I'm a fantasy novelist. I must be going to hell.

It's xenophobia. People are afraid of new ideas, few more than conservative right-wing christians. And because they run the country (my country anyways), what they say is heeded. If anything, they only use religion as a political tool to promote themselves.

But then you have the people that actually believe in it. Like my neighbours. They don't let their children watch Pokemon or DBZ, or any cool shows young children need to be subjected to, claiming it's blashphemous to god to feature animals that we're created by god's hand or whatever. Its stupid.

I have three cousins like that. They aren't allowed to play Pokemon either. I remember a long time ago how they used to steal Pokemon cards because they weren't allowed to have any. They even stole my first edition Charizard then lost it, that REALLY pissed me off. It's sad.

Funny story about them. My cousins were nine years old at the time, and I caught them playing GTA once and playing it well. When I asked them where they learned to play, they got it from church.
