As much as I hate the idea, I would've liked it if Potter and co. had actually gone to Hogwarts for a few months before the Ministry fell, Scrimgeour died and they came, then they would start the epic quest type thing. The section from where they started their quest to about when they found the sword was rather pointless (and unnecessary - it could've easily been trimmed down a bit).

It stunk. I expected no different. The series takes itself too seriously after the first 3, and just goes way downhill after 5. It was fun as a little magical romp, but Rowling doesn't do well with real emotions and seems to throw them in just to look cool for writing dark things. More of Hogwarts would have been nice, just for some contrast.
SPOILER

Lupin's death sucked. I don't care what she says about "realism", it was lame.

Why are ppl writing spoiler warnings? If we're gonna talk about something in a topic, people who haven't read it should be prepared when they enter the topic. Gawd.

I didn't like snape's death.. it was quick, too quick. I mean, Ron's dad was attacked by that snake too.. and how long did it take for him to be found..? Longer then it took for Harry to retrieve snape's memories, that's for sure. And didn't Ron's dad have more bites..? And hedwig's death was pathetic.. she didn't even get to fly.. :'(

I did because I hate when people WHINE about spoilers. *eye roll*
Many authors use death to make their stories feel grimmer and more serious. A quick death, according to Rowling, is more realistic. That's bullcrap. You want realism? DON' READ HARRY FREAKIN' POTTER.

You should rename the topic "So like... hp7 spoiler alert... you dig, baby?"

EDIT: lolololol

Maybe so, but if you've had a character be an integral part of the story for 7 books and the readers have come to love them (Even if it is Snape, bah), said readers do not want to see that character recieve a quick death. They want a long, drawn-out, moving death sequence where everyone gets to make a tearjerking speech. You don't want "stab, blargh, dead".
