Knight's Journey 3: The Knight's Union
« on: August 31, 2007, 08:07:50 AM »
FAQ:

Q: You said that KJ3 would have some Team Quake in it?
A: I accidently messed up the 'old' game, so I decided to have a new plot.

--------------

About the game:

The Knight's Union are a group of 4 monster trainers which are some of the toughest where you are. Sam {player} is still King. You start the game in one of Sam's dreams.

"Two Years ago, a ninja named Shonpal killed your father. He confessed and then you killed the ninja."

You have to go and find out why he did it. Along the way, you meet someone called Mof Hydra. He was a witness of your father's death.  You then have to go to Sandune Islands, where you had murdered Shonpal.  Everyone hates you because you killed the greatest ninja. Even at the Knight School, the children have been brainwashed to think you are a traitor. Also your mother nows lives on the islands. No-one knew who she was until you leave the building...
You then get on a boat to Sandune Cave, where you most confront the head of the Sandune Elite Soldiers.  He will then tell you that your father was never meant to be murdered. In a storm of outrage, you make an explosion and leave the cave. Mof, you and the head of the Sandune Elite Soldiers all escape.

After that, you talk to Mof Hydra. He tells you about the Knight's Union. He will give you two items if you become champion.  You find Allan {you met him if you played KJ2}. He sends you to Azumaf Town, the nearest town to the Knight's Union. The Knight's Union don't like you to save in the building, so you save outside, or let the old man do it for you.

Once you become champion, you start back at your castle. Mof is waiting for you.  When you had originally gone into the Knight's Union, a side entrance was blocked. It now isn't anymore. Welcome to the unlocked area of KJ3.

You will find:

Champion Garden: A nice play to relax.

Champion Cave: Some of the best trainers battle you in here, it is here that Mof gives you those two items.

Andy's Aircraft: A shop where you can use/return Hot Air Balloons.

Dragon's Ruin: Where Mof Hydra lives. It used to be a flourishing town, but the evil Red Phoenix caused a sandstorm and she sent dragons to kill the people, however Mof saved the island.

Carrigorn Island: Where Allan lives. There is a tunnel that connects to Cascade City, but is blocked by Janice until you find a special item for her.

Mountain Tunnel: A tunnel that you can go through after you have got the item that Janice needs.

Cascade City: The last big city in the game. Save the city from the evil pirates. You will find the supposed King, but it turns out that he is just a mere prince! Find lots about the ancient Monlinthians who built Pyramids and discover that Elves used to live there. The evil Red Phoenix also sent a sandstorm there.

Continues the nonsense, fast-paced, and strange story of Sam
« Reply #3 on: September 15, 2007, 07:59:18 PM »
I'm actually pretty shocked at how fast this was finished.  Alright, trying the game out...

The game doesn't make a whole lot of sense.  From what I can understand, the timeline goes as followed:

- Sam's father who isn't the original king for some reason, is murdered.

- Sam kills assassin

- Sam is kicked out of town and is no longer king

- Sam kills everyone in the town for kicking him out of the town.

-- Sam explodes in the process, for some reason.

- No one cares, Sam is forgiven, everyone's happy.

Story I give a 1.5/5, it was there, but the original had better story regardless of having NO story.  In other words, the story made no sense.

Gameplay, 2/5, it was way too short, and I honestly couldn't tell if where I stopped, the game was over or not.  The gameplay was way too easy.  Everything, for the most part, died in one shot.  LITERALLY, EVERYTHING.  every attack hit all monster, even the normal attacking, and all monsters usually died as a result.

Sound is 3.5/5, most of it was very consistent, but most of it was also RTP.

Fun is 3/5, the game was short, faar too short, and impossibly easy.  Try adding more characters, more weapons, custom monsters and hey, even more environments in KJ4.

Graphics are 2/5, the game was mostly all RTP, and I don't mind RTP chipsets, if they're used WELL, this game did not.  I'm not that picky on graphics, though.

Overall, 3/5, I liked the first one better, for one it had no story, instead of a terrible, nonsense story.  The game was pretty fun, but only because of how short it was.  I sound like I'm contradicting myself, but I'd prefer if the game was better before wanting it to be longer, because at the moment I couldn't stand playing this game in a 10-25 hour length.  If you plan on making a KJ4, I suggest you ask for some help with the maps.  And none of this is meant to insult you, it's meant to hshow you where the room for improvement is.

I'd love to help with KJ4, be it in combat, monsters, maps, or even story.

alright...where to start

Gameplay- 1/10 it was just Rtp map after Rtp map with no random encounters and i was level 99 within the first minuet of playing :(

Graphics- 1/10 i mean they were not horrible but they were the rtp and i just can stand te rtp

Music 4/10 Once again mostly rtp but at least you picked the moderately alright music that comes with the rtp

Story .5/10 ummmmm what was the story again?

Programing 2/10 you didnt do anything special at all but at least you could understand basic movement and erase event events except when i took the ship into the desert

Final Score 8.5/50
sorry but it just wasn't very good but if you are thinking about making a 4th ask for some help and i can get you some custion content and some real custom systems and dont let this discourage you just keep it up

thx for the reviews but they're were 3 different Chipset's in there. I will be making a 4th and I can't think of any other storylines. They're mostly saving the King/Queen!

EDIT: I want to axe Sam in the 4th and a customize your own character area. Would it be possible that in a message it could print your name. So eg you picked a character named Kane, then you speak to a guy and says "Hello Kane". "Kane" would change depending on the character.

Yup. You know how to enter hero name, right?

Then, if you wanted to show the name of thefirst hero in your database (hero 001, default alex or whatever) put (Backward slash)N[1]... or (Backward slash)n[1]. One of the two.

For the second hero down you put in (Backward slash)N[2] into the message box and so on.

oh thanks. Then I don't have to say, "Hello Character" lol. Cheers.

EDIT: I've been discussing the plot with zuhane1. We have both come up with a storyline that is not confusing!

EDIT 2: Dominicy? Could you possible help me how to probably construct walls in a house or in caves? That I think I have major problems in lol...
