Starless Umbra, formerly Dragon Heart
« on: December 29, 2007, 07:59:00 AM »
First off I was sent here by aboutasoandthis. Anyway, onto the topic...

About (taken from the website)
In Starless Umbra (formerly Dragon Heart), you play as Andoru, a young man, and his best friend Clydan in their merciless quest to find their way home. The two become deeply involved in the drama and affairs of a land completely unknown to them, with every day bringing them both new friends and impervious challenges. What starts as a simple journey into the unknown evolves into a dynamic, emotionally-driven game, full of immersive character development, challenging puzzles, and a one-of-a-kind adventure.

Notable Features
>Dynamic Running System - Running consumes stamina. Run more to obtain more stamina, participate in races, and win some neat prizes.
>Cooking System - Purchase foods to make and sell better, more complicated foods as you learn recipes and gather ingredients. Cooking great things requires a lot of practice, money, and devotion to learn and make bigger and better things.
>Two Skill Learning Archetypes - In Starless Umbra you can learn skills by equipping "Essence" and fighting monsters or adhering "Dysona Gems" to your body. Whichever path you choose, the combinations of skills and attacks are numerous!
>Rage System - Accumulate enough damage in-battle and your characters will gain new abilities, statistics, and powers.
>Customizable Character Growth - With a variety of skills, items, weapons, and armor, you can create your own character class or add bonuses to the presupposed ones.
>Custom Artwork and Music - Amazing art from keifurisu and Original music by eternal_renegade created for Starless Umbra.
...And Many More!

Feedback
Here are a few snippets of a few emails I've received regarding the game.

I think the game is one of the most beautiful I've ever played.

Sorry to bug you - LOVE your game

I've been browsing thru many RPG Maker 2k3 games which have been created , and so far yours has impressed me the most.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed DHM's game. I was hooked from the beginning with the professionalism and prettyness and remained hooked until the ending of chapter 2. Dragon Heart is a game that not enough people are catching wind of, and it's a real shame because a good game like this shouldn't go unnoticed.

Final Thoughts
Thank you for your interest in Starless Umbra. If you enjoy the game or you just want to show a little support, check out the supplementary Starless Umbra Forums I coded. Currently all I've created is a review submission system and a primitive forum, but your support is appreciated. Happy Holidays!

Looks great!  I'll download it another time, but your story seems developed, as well as the systems included.

I don't have the opportunity to give a full review right now, but people please play this game! When it first came out it was my favorite RPG Maker game, and now it has more content and polish. It could be my favorite RPG Maker game of all time. People you know me as overcritical, yet this game gets my highest recommendation, so please play it!
