Until the End of Time
« on: April 20, 2008, 07:22:29 PM »
Richard finds himself in another "flashback" of something that never happened. They always take place on a day something else was suppose to happen. Then, one day, he finds out he has time traveling abilities. He learns that himself in the future has been changing events in his past. Can he stop everything from happening or die trying?

I have just started the game so don't expect any screenshots during this week. I have focused everything on to this game so far. I know the story is confusing. It won't seem as confusing when you play it.

Ahem......

* Tons of Minigames during the storyline so your not wasting your time for side quests.
* Get a job! Earn money for items on your quest to save yourself.
* Customize your look!
* In the city, head to the arcade and play some games, eat some food, and catch a short flick.
* Browse some websites on your computer!
* Multiple endings!
* Can you say CBS?

Fascinating. Although I'd suggest keeping the names of websites and games as puns or alternates; to both avoid being too blatant, and just to be plain imaginative and clever.

However, the time travel may mess with some of the online functions. Assuming you stay on the same plane of existance when time-travelling, all events that happen (let's say on the internet) will happen again. This could be nice if you missed something last time, but it also means that you'll get the same messages over and over, or get the same e-bay items over and over, which is a little broken.

There's also the issue of paradoxes. It'd be nice if there were some things you should be careful of doing to prevent a total logic collapse. For example, say you make a post on the ingame message board, then time-travel to repeat the day again. If you don't post on the message board this time around, then events would play out differently to last time; i.e. a Paradox. There's also the possibility of running into your younger self...

Paradoxes are the point! The alternate endings depend on time paradoxes!

I thought of dumb names after the real names.

The websites are:
FDock
Table-Project- Talk to people like ZeroMetaKnightX and ToTW2and3Rocks!
UrFace
Wikimanac
OldSky

Arcade Games:

SUPERAWESUMFIGHTER2- Starring Ryo, Kam, Goukuma, and Mike Vegas. Use SoRyuCan and HiDunkin! to beat your enemies!
Capnam- Pac-man

Should I use real names or these names?

I would far prefer

U-Sell
Chara Chat
MyBuddies
Omnipedia
Flash Lands

Still pretty obvious what sites they're referring to, but aren't quite so blatant. I'm aware that paradoxes would be a major part of gameplay and plot, just be careful not to cause any plotholes or gameplay flaws as a result. :3

About the flashbacks:

The flashbacks are from the future Richard traveling back in time. Since they take place in the past, the present Richard has them as flashbacks. These flashbacks change what happens on the day the flashbacks occur.

I'll probably make a video of the Street Fighter minigame when I'm done finishing it. I might even make a short game based on the minigame, just to get everybody hyped up waiting for the game.

I once had a game similar to this.  Except the fact that you were travelling time the entire game didn't make sense until the end.  Plus you were trying to stop a renegade military force called the Red Empire from inheriting the powers of a demon named Astral...  It was called Fire Dancer.  Never quite had a reason for that, though...

EITHER WAAAAY, this looks pretty interesting.  Time travel plots are insane difficult to pull of right, but if they are they are AWESOME.  Do this right or face the wrath of my mutated-six-knuckled fist.

Just one thing I should ask you all, would an actual song with singing ruin the whole RPG?

Not necessarily.

The concept is cool but would be hard to pull off. Good luck!

Oh also, you might want to change the name. Enix kinda already used that one.

The original name was Hero of Time, which would mean it's about Legend of Zelda. I guess I'll start thinking.

Well you might be able to get away with this one; I'm just saying. Star Ocean: Till the end of time is a pretty close match.
