Seriously, you can't stop yourself from laughing at the crappiness of the ending.

It just looks so silly.

And I thought Cuneyt Arkin was bad. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzaWJTOlca4 )

Oh gee! XD That battle reeked of something, and it wasn't awesome...

Like the American Street Fighter cartoons and the CD-i cutscenes.

The people who made the Street Fighter film are now making a film based on Shadow of the Colossus.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2009/apr/10/gameculture

That's right, a Hollywood film from a studio with a terrible reputation, based on an artistic videogame which has virtually no dialogue, a vague plotline which is almost entirely down to the player's interpretation, only one or two real characters, and which basically consists of 16 fight scenes.

This makes me very, very angry.

I believe I heard somewhere that James Marsters wants to make the Dragonball series up to 7 films long.

With the crappiness that is Evolution, I doubt they'll even make 2, unless they do an Incredible Hulk and mostly ignore the first movie. Which, at this point, is probably an inevitability.

If they do a sequel, again referring to Incredible Hulk, they could sum up Evolution in 5 minutes, then move on to the main plot. I would like to see them do the Red Ribbon Army arc, possibly with some of the Androids saga of DBZ thrown in. Not only would that allow a bit more fighting (something I seem to recall Evolution lacking in), the combat would mostly be against grunts, with a few major fights like General Blue, Adjutant Black and the Android twins scattered throughout the movie. And as long as they polished up the CGI a bit and got some better stunt coordinators, it would be a great popcorn flick while being faithful to the source material.

True, so true. It's something they didn't do with this movie. Even TRY to be faithful. Either they didn't watch DB or they only watched it a little bit... and OH DEAR LORD... 7 films is too much!

Dragonball Evolution made $4.7 million at the box office, debuting in eighth place. I'm not sure of the validity of this, but one site I saw estimated its budget was $120 million. There's no chance in hell it's going to turn anything close to a profit, so I'd consider the prospects for even a single sequel a pipe dream.

But there must be 7 films! It's one for every dragon ball! Think of all the cool film title opportunities- it'll be like the x-men films and wolverine's claws!

Seriously, my expectations of this film were so low that nothing I can see about it will surprise me. If they actually want to make a faithful live action thing some day rather than a martial arts movie with a famous name, I reckon the Saiyan, Namek and Frieza sagas would make an amazing film if they cut out Raditz and made Vegeta and Nappa visit Earth in a 'introduction' style bit of the film. The film could explain that with Piccollo dead their friends could not be revived and thus Goku travelled to Namek to find the new dragon balls... But he was not the only one looking for them.

Then the main body of the film would deal with the part on Namek, with emphasis on the allusions to the political climate of the galaxy and the demise of the saiyans. Goku turning super saiyan and the world exploding with be the perfect end... Just makes sense to me.

Yes, indeed. The whole Frieza saga was arguably the best saga in the entire series, though the decompression at the end was a bit annoying.

If they really want to do 7 films, then... hmm.

1: Evolution: Pilaf/King Piccolo: Yeah, we know how this turned out. But, assuming they want to give it another go, with more respect to the source material...

2: Red Ribbon Army: As described above, this would work well as a summer movie. Going with the "Americanized" tone of Evolution, the RRA could be presented as a major technology company, rather than the nondescript terrorist organization in the original. The Androids or Cell could be worked into the ending, if only because I don't see them being featured as villains in the other movies - more on that below. They definitely to include Krillin in here, though - his absence in Evolution was a major mistake.

3: Tournaments: A blend of the three Tournaments from the original DB: the tournament after the first saga, the Tien Shinhan saga and the Piccolo Jr. saga. Tien and Chiaotzu would be the major villains here, with Piccolo being sort of a wild card - he wants revenge against Goku, but he ultimately assists him in defeating the two Crane School pupils. Perhaps an appearance by Kami, trying to seal Piccolo away. Maybe even... Goku dressing up as Great Saiyaman? These are just ideas, of course.

4: Saiyans: Yeah, I really like the whole Saiyan arc. There needs to be some Bardock action in this movie somewhere, either as flashbacks, or... an appearance by the man himself. Since the movies should be distinct from the anime, here's a few key differences:
-Goku doesn't die against Raditz. Instead, him and Piccolo team up and defeat Raditz (as in the original), though barely hanging on - Piccolo is severely injured during the battle. almost at the brink of death.
-The secondary fighters (Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, and to a lesser degree, Yajirobe and Gohan) need more action here. Thus, instead of just Nappa and Vegeta showing up, they bring some allies - Turles (from movie 3), Tarble (Vegeta's brother from Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return), and, yes, Bardock. So the secondary heroes take out the secondary villains, when Nappa shows up and beats them all up (don't know if they should die or not), and is about to take out Gohan, when Piccolo shows up, spars with him for a bit, then sacrifices himself to save Gohan. Then Goku shows up, yadda yadda yadda.
-Another idea would be to have Broly in the movie - perhaps he's under the control of Vegeta, and being used as a "bodyguard" for the Saiyan prince. That was sort of the intent with Nappa, but it never really got across in the original series. So, Goku takes out Nappa, but is getting pummeled by Broly, so Bardock (who was already thinking about defecting to the side of the heroes) takes pity on his son and helps to defeats Broly, and the two take on Vegeta together (though Bardock dies near the end).
-Kaio-ken doesn't really need to be used; they could just as easily say that Goku is a lot stronger, or Vegeta is weaker. Spirit Bomb would be a bonus, though - perhaps Bardock gives his last bit of ki to Goku, which, when coupled with Goku's rage, would be enough to overwhelm Vegeta at the climax.

5: Namek/Frieza: As Moosetroop said, this could work really well, as I consider the Frieza arc the best in the entire series. They could do without Frieza's henchmen in the beginning (Zarbon, Dodoria and Cui), but instead just having a bunch of nameless henchmen and the Ginyu Force about 40 minutes into the movie, with the Frieza battle being a little less drawn out (going from first form to final immediately, and not the whole "5 minutes equals 3 weeks" deal). Like in the series, Vegeta would form an alliance with the heroes against their common enemy, and Frieza would make quick work of both Vegeta and Krillin, making Goku so SSJ. You know the rest.

6: Frankly, I'm not too sure on this. Doing the Androids/Cell would be too similar to DBZ, and I never really considered it as strong as the Saiyan and Frieza arcs (and the whole Future Trunks thing just seemed out of place, even in Dragonball). On the other hand, the entire Buu arc is incredibly silly... Super Saiyan 3 with its ridiculous hair, simple mortals who far surpass the gods of the freakin' universe, "Fuuuuuu-Sion! HA!" and not to mention the pink ball of goo with more forms than every other character in the series combined. If they don't use Broly in movie 4, then they could use him here; if not, then Cooler might be a good substitution. Or even Garlic Jr, Hirudegarm or any of the other countless filler villains.

7: GT's Baby/Shadow Dragons: GT kind of sucked, but I really liked the Baby saga. Especially if movie 6 ended with them in space (which happens in both Return of Cooler and Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan), they could stumble on Dr. Myu and Baby. Perhaps, during the movie, Baby would stumble on the Dragonballs, and inadvertently unleash the Shadow Dragons - forcing the heroes to defeat them. GT also had a great ending episode, and I definitely would like to see that reproduced. Though they should avoid making Goku into a kid again - that was the one thing I hated the most about GT.

Just my thoughts, of course.

Hey Warxe. They should do a movie version of the OVER 9000 scene! XD *gets attacked by an agitated Vegeta* OH CRAP!

But yeah, I agree with you. That would be the best course of action.

Most definitely. That would be priceless... and, if they really wanted to cater to the meme-obsessed fans, they could have a character fire a lazor or comment on the inertness of a certain set of balls. Hehe.

Also, edited my Wall o' Text post a bit.
